The N59 upgrade.

    I heard a story a good few years back that an upgrade to the N59 was being held up on account of populations of Freshwater Mussels(Margaritifera margaritifera) that were likely to be destroyed.


    I see that an upgrade was in fact completed a year or so between Maam Cross and Oughterard.

    Is this the stretch that involved the Freshwater Mussels?

    If so,how are they doing since the works were completed?

    @mods,maybe a more suitable forum elsewhere on the site could be more appropriate?
