I'd be careful what you wish, especially with AC22 connecters being put on the triple head chargers.

When you have arse holes who'll abandon on an AC charger for 24hrs plus, yes you need an overstay fee.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,005 ✭✭✭✭the_amazing_raisin

Well I'd say there's a balance, maybe lengthen the overstay fee at night to 12 or 14 hours to ensure people are off the charger in the morning

I see your point, if the overstay fee resets at midnight, and the 10 hours only started ticking at 8am then you'd effectively get up to 6pm for free

Of course the argument then is that your car will definitely be fully charged, and since that's misuse of the charging bay then the parking warden would ticket you

Assuming the parking warden is bothered to do so of course 😏

I'll pull the stats in the morning.

Really shouldn't be much effort for me to host an image or an embedded Google sheets chart of the the usage on the site either. We'll see what the morning brings

Forgot to do this earlier. Pulled the stats, and the graphs are now published to

    https://ecars-stats.com/graphs.html

I've to manually keep the google sheet up to date, but I typically do it every couple of weeks

    Correct. I'll update the headings.

ESB kicked out of a motorway site by Applegreen. I would prefer competition on pricing and service but here we are...

Yes I just posted the same in the IEVOA FB group. Seems like they are kicking out all other operators at their sites, not just Tesla.

I mean, it makes sense, would you have a mcdonalds and a burgerking right beside each other on a premises fully owned (or leased) by mcdonalds?

It aligns with the newly announced National EV Charging Infrastructure Strategy ;)

So Applegreen really aren’t fcuking around are they??

Once the new AG units go live in Castlebellingham, the pitiful little operation eCars had there will be turfed out too…. And good riddance….. (and I won’t miss that pi$$hole of a services when Tesla get booted out too…. After experiencing Enfield & Athenry, give me a hotel site any day…)

how long before eCars start replacing all the Tesco AC units for DC units? When they should actually be installing the DC units next to the AC units..

Why are we celebrating the actions of a company that have actively blocked a network from expanding chargers so they could delay installation until they were able to do so on their own timetable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,121 ✭✭✭✭ELM327

Because they are now expanding and providing chargers better than that "network"

while i'm all in favour of applegreen adding decent hubs, especially on the M1, removing the 50kW ESB chargers is a bit of a d!ck move, as liamog pointed out, after they have blocked additional units on their site to fit their own agenda.

The 50kW unit would have been perfectly fine for cars that can't benefit from the 150kW/200kW charges they might put in (either because of the car can't take high power or maybe the SoC is too high, whatever) - but applegreen will still charge 80c / kWh or more to those cars drawing way less than 150kW/200kW (just because they're plugged in to a 150kW/200kW charger).

Stopping for 10 mins on a 200kW charger is what I'm personally interested in (and if i've to pay 80c / kWh for a reliable and available charger that's fine, but what if people want to stop for 30 mins or 45 mins, happy to charge at 50kW and pay accordingly, they'll have to get up and move part way through their coffee/food to move on.

two steps forward, one step back, as usual.

I’m not happy that it’s taken this long, but I’m really happy to see some proper action, and the beginnings of what looks like being a semi proper network going in, which will blow what came before it out of the water. And now that it’s happening, look how quickly it is happening….

Most people probably won’t care how **** they’ve acted in the past blocking expansion etc…. People only care about what’s being done now, to improve their situation, and now that Applegreen are doing it (and look to be doing it properly) I say fair play to them… better late that never. Don’t stop now…

How is the eCars master plan of what was it, 96 HPC hubs by end of 2022…? What are we up to now? 19?

I forgot to add the inverted commas around ‘hub’

    Kind Regards,

(and they still only have 2 DC chargers in all of county Waterford)

Would it be some retaliation for not getting Ballymount up and running as they wanted to?

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 8,264 Mod ✭✭✭✭liamog

No problem with AG building out a network. But to have a go at eCars for not building hubs at service stations due to them being blocked by the very same operators who are now building their own is a bit ridiculous.

If AG hadn't been playing silly beggars for the last 3 years we'd probably have a number of Mayfield style hubs, instead we've got AG taking Lusk from a 1 CCS car 50kW charger to a 3 CCS charging with an upgrade in speed. It's pretty much just as anything eCars have attempted.

That would be silly, as ESBN and ESB ECars are two separate companies by regulation. Same as ESBN vs Electric Ireland.

While I agree with the sentiment of your post, I really do, AG pay for the lease of the site and thus as a commercial enterprise get to dictate terms as they see fit. The vexation should be at the terms of the lease offered which should have provision for car charging.

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 8,264 Mod ✭✭✭✭liamog

Agree with you on that, the MSA leases absolutely should have had terms that required operators to conform to updated technical standards over time. AG have a done a lot to hold back charging expansion here and in the UK. I'm not willing to give them a hero cape now that they finally show up to the pitch.

Have applegreen got a website with a map of their chargers and charging status? Sounds like I'll have to start grabbing their metrics now they've booted ecars off a site.

Got their sites tonight. Lots in the UK, and nice sized hubs.

Tried using the existing code to get their usage, but that needs a bit of customising. Kept saying birdhill was charging when it's not. Maybe get time over the weekend to debug it.

Anyone know if the applegreen 50kW units load share, or if they're a single car at a time style unit?

Thanks. Little change to the code so. Easier to handle Vs ecars 50kW and their 2 plugs 1 car.
