Yeah one of those that if the ref gives a penalty, VAR won't overrule and not award it.

I would also factor in a "SUPER SUNDAY" (their words. not mine), Manchester derby versus a game that sneaked in on a Wednesday night. Just like the way the hype machine is already in place for this weekend's fixture, where Sky have just had a 10 minute debate on what Casemiro missing will mean. Last Sunday's game was seen as hugely pivotal in the title race, even though the 3 points on offer tonight are equally as valuable as those earned on the weekend. i do get the tribalism angle though. 90% of posts on here have to have an anti Manchester United or anti Liverpool bias. Its boring for the rest of us, but its the nature of things. For me, I lost money because of what happened on Sunday and made money tonight because of what didn't happen. I expected VAR to improve betting returns by removing errors, but I've seen two big ones in 4 days, that are disproving what I thought would be the obvious outcome of VAR.

... d'ya not realise why there were so many posts on that? I think it was yourself at the time posited that if it was in a match against two random other clubs that it would've been a few posts and that's it - and you're right, cause in that situation, everyone would have said "hang on, that's a bloody mad one, surely that can't be considered onside?!", and that would've been it. The only thing that made it keep going was the few fans pushing back and creating a debate. Obviously a debate creates more posts than universal agreement. Like, even the Wolves/Liverpool Salah one the week before petered out very quickly, cause all fans - Liverpools included - just agreed, "yup, that's a nonsense" (with pool fans adding ".. but we'll take it!".

It's not an anti-Utd thing that creates more comments, it's just having two sides of an argument that keep pushing each other to continue responding.

That’s probably fair enough. Just annoying when it’s a big thing made of it when Your team gets a favourable decision and then when the opposite happens nobody says a word. I guess my other comments on our own biases equally rings true on that point.

To be fair to ETH he didn’t complain after game.

Not sure the angle showed any actual contact made on McTominay but could be wrong on that. Zaha was beyond rubbish, looked like he had no pace either.

Absolutely. Conflating the two incidents is grossly misleading.

    United got what they deserved.

While it was a penalty on Scottie, United did not do enough in second half to finish Palace off and they got lovely equaliser.

No complaints. United were sharp and crisp passing in first half but never came out for second.

Going have few more disappointing results like tonight going forward. United are far from where near be but in general are moving forward and progress has been made.

City should win tonight against a very below par Spurs team.

Zaha is probably eyeing a nice big move for himself in the summer as his contract is up. He has serious talent but I can’t see any of the big clubs taking him, even on a free.

Everton were apparently looking at Danny Ings, but he has just signed for West Ham, as a replacement for the injured Scamacca.

This Saturday 15:00 the Hammers host the Toffees!

You can almost predict Jeff Stelling screaming at a quarter to five!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,674 ✭✭✭doc_17

Not sure. I’d say Zaha will be looking for a 4/5 year deal on huge wages/signing fee and I think that could disrupt things at Newcastle.

Congratulations to Man City, again the club with the highest commercial revenue in world football, even though they can’t fill their stadium! As John Henry says about it…..”what was the second highest offer”

Its actually fuckin hilarious. A club that for all intents and purposes did not exist before 2008 now, just 14 and a bit years later, tops the global revenue list for football teams. There is no way anyone with even the most rudimentary level of intelligence cannot see how crooked the whole set up is or argue that its all above board. Its the reason I do not care what or how much City win, its all artificial, it means absolutely nothing because without the state funding they would still be yo-yoing up and down the divisions. They are the ultimate pig in a silk dress.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,025 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

Unfair to say they didnt exist before 2008, they have always been a proper club , and got big crowds even in the 3 rd tier - not a fan of what they have become and want Arsenal to win league.

Trossard going to Arsenal it seems. Me likey that signing as a squad option.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,884 ✭✭✭Pogue eile

That has to be the most ironic use of 'rudimentary level of intelligence' one is ever likely to see 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,869 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Danny Ings just really wanted to play for every club wearing claret & blue!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,340 ✭✭✭El Gato De Negocios

I said for all intents and purposes they didnt exist and their lack of relevance in the league or any other competition prior to their windfall illustrate that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,025 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

and thats what I said was unfair - they well and truly existed as a proper club - they had won many leagues and cups before 2008, with a very large passionate fanbase.

The where founded in 1880 , They had an average attendance of over 28 thousand in division 2 ,

I'm not the biggest fan of City but they have a hugely loyal fan base,

Also they are what they are NOW , They are now the 5th most successful club in regards to English league titles, only 1 off 4th,

United haven't finished above them in a decade now , that is reality,

Lets not forget Forrest won 2 European cups when breaking the world transfer record & out spending there rivals

Blackburn won the Prem with Jack Walkers millions,

United won the lot while out spending everyone ,

    Chelsea done the same ,

Not sure why City is any different ,

Arsenal doing better getting Trossard instead of Mudryk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,674 ✭✭✭doc_17

City and Chelsea are very different than the rest. Those clubs have had their success in recent times as part of sporstwashing projects. They would never have had the means to compete in the modern game without the oil millions that came pouring in and their disregard for rules on how clubs are supposed to be run.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,954 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Jack Walker started it at Blackburn ,He was the most hated man in English football who must be stopped back in 1992

Someone will always had the richest owners ,

To be fair , City, Chelsea , United all spend similar amounts money so the playing field is even, We can add Newcastle to that now ,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,340 ✭✭✭El Gato De Negocios

As a Liverpool fan I genuinely do not know how you come out with some of the absolute pony you come out with. If it werent for City's crooked money ye would be after winning 3 or 4 of the last 5 PL's. United spending was never a case of throwing money at a problem to buy success, what United have spent even up until last summer was money generated on the clubs own back, exactly the same as Liverpool and Arsenal. Chelsea, City and now Newcastle would be also rans without the massive injections from owners. There is literally no comparison between MU, LFC or Arse and Chelsea, City and NU.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,791 ✭✭✭McFly85

I don’t think you can consider the playing field even. State owned clubs who don’t need to worry about the sustainability of the club will end up distorting the actual market price for players - they did this in a major way with PSGs Neymar transfer, and now we’re at the point where a 100m player isn’t considered critical and is on the bench and it’s not that shocking. Sure Chelsea just dropped 100m on a youngster nobody thinks is worth that much.

Ultimately there will be a core team of billionaire funded clubs and then everyone else, with maybe one team challenging every once in a while. So the super league, except without the actual formation of one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,954 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

But they do have the money now so why piss & moan about it ,

Have to laugh at your comment United spending was never a case of throwing money at the problem to buy success ,Have you been asleep for the last decade,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,340 ✭✭✭El Gato De Negocios

What United have spent even up until last summer was money generated on the clubs own back, exactly the same as Liverpool and Arsenal.

United have obviously spent heavily and more often than not badly, thats not nor has it ever been up for debate. The key difference with what United, LFC or Arse have spent is that it was funds generated by the clubs themselves, not some shady owner funneling hundreds of millions into the club.

Im not moaning about it, I dont care because like I said in my original post, City winning things means absolutely nothing to me, zero, nada, zip. They could win 10 leagues in a row and 10 champions leagues in a row and find a cure for cancer and solve world hunger and I still wouldn't care, because its all fake, its artificial, its built on a web of corruption and lies.

Why didn't you highlight the part of your post quoted, "United spending was never a case of throwing money at a problem to buy success" that exactly what the have done,

But you are moaning your calling what has a happened in reality fake, ,

Technically all 3 clubs u mentioned operate in debt so are not just spending money that is generated solely from the club ,
