Just on a last check before bed and there are a few flakes blowing in the wind, but the sky is clearing already so a few seconds of flakes before that shower dry's up for good.

About 3 cms here. Still cloudy. By the way if the GFS pub run is correct it could be a very windy start to February!

Temps up this morning, drip drip drip

Not looking forward to the morning commute, looks like more snow inbound after what fell last night (SW Laois)

Another impressive body of precip running from Donegal down to nearly Waterford. None for Dublin overnight (of note I should say, maybe some part caught a rogue decayed flurry), so this time we’ve been rather unlucky as snow has made it deep into the south and Leinster. Coverings for many parts of West Kildare and Laois.

Best chance for Dublin probably the large region of precip just SW of Donegal. On a favourable trajectory finally - will have to see what’s left of it in an hour or two.

EDIT: thanks Neddy. It can stay away so :)

Most of that is rain. Had a couple of inches here before 11, but most was washed away in the rain that followed.

Snow limited to high ground now.

    Up to 2C here.

Still have a covering here. I thought we might get more overnight, but I suspect any showers could have turned back to rain. The Northerlies of old would have left 3 to 4 inches of snow on the ground.

Same here, if it wasn't for the heavy rain from the mild sector that followed, it would have been >4 in.

All white from overnight snow near Roscrea but just about 1 cm covering.

Temp barely fell below zero and hovering around 1 since about 4 am

Just had another shower that started off as sleety snow, which turned fully to rain by the end of it. I just hope it clears up now before all the snow has gone, but that is very unlikely.

That 7.15am shower was mostly sleet here in Laois, there was around 2cm covering last night after the main band, but 1cm is more like it now as that slightly milder air of around +1.5c came in with the sleet and thawed things slightly. Cooling off a little again though.

Had about 2cm last night, Kildare/Carlow border. Going north on M9 this morning had dissapeared long before Kilcullen. Easy commute in the end.

Bitter here in North Kildare. Heating on solid again. Beautiful to look at the landscape though.

Wintry last night here near Tralee out by the coast but on the wetter side. Between 2 and 2.5C this morning with numerous showers of hail. Big Cb's but no sparks. Big shower of hail hammering down atm.

Heavy clouds coming into Dublin, could it be?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,154 ✭✭✭redsteveireland

Yes, it's cloudy. There is little evidence of any precipitation, frozen or otherwise anywhere near you on the radar.

Had a tiny covering in Rochestown last night. Funnily enough, it stuck to the roads but not anywhere else? Never seen that before, presume ground temps must have been very low or some such. We'd far more snow on Monday night but none stuck. Nice to see it falling all the same.

As an aside (and I say this as a comment on reportage, not a climate change comment as I have no dog in that fight) but interesting to note that there has been industrial quantities of snow falling in the alps the last week with more the next couple of days. Temps there likely to be way below zero for the next 10 days, day and night (and -10 or lower by night generally). Seems to have gotten just a tad less press coverage than the green slope pictures of a fortnight ago though.... and yes, I get that the unusual is more newsworthy, but when it was being used as further evidence that the world's climate is f***ed you'd think that updating the story would have been a good news story? Obviously there's plenty basis for thinking the world's climate might be in big trouble and I am not intending to convey a contrary view...

Love looking at all the photos! Jealous isn't the word given how close it was, it!

Temps rising in cork city now and alas, as the temps rise, the rain actually enters the city
