Anyone any idea why when I put in 150 for remote working tax credits in 2021 that revenue would only refund you 70?

I was expecting a one-for-one refund in line with the credits.

Uh am I right then in saying cos I rent my house and worked in 2022.. i now get €500 back from revenue? 😅

Applied for WFH & medical expenses on Saturday 7th Jan. Received an email Thursday saying my claim was being processed and here's your reference number. Money received in bank account yesterday and new SOL appearing on the ROS website. Great service .....

Because the relief is calculated on the 150. You don't put in 150. You put in the amounts paid for each section for the year and the days worked remotely. The system calculates then what the gross is you can receive relief on. The relief is granted at your marginal rate of tax.

There is more to it than that but assuming you meet all the conditions of the relief and have €500 in PAYE from 2022 available to be refunded, then yes.

I thought I put in the total bill amounts, i.e. 2 grand ish.

And that the 150 was what revenue calculated would be the additional credits?

So 2000 euro for the full year. 230 working days out of the full year is 1260 euro. You are allowed 30% of that then to receive relief on. That should be €378. The tax refund due is either 20% of the €378 or 40% of it depending on the rate of tax you paid.

On your statement of liability on page 2 what is the credit for WFH?

Ah, I think that's my issue, I thought it was a credit to be offset against income tax paid (1 for 1) rather than relief payable at the marginal rate.

    Thanks

I'm over a week and on top of that their two factor authentication texts are not being sent so can't even log in.

That’s just the MsVerify they use at fault. Same for me. It’s affecting any/all MyGovID logins.

LOL, forgot the WFH credit, I was so happy with their predicted overpayment that I forgot to be meticulous.

It's a nice new feature giving a guess before you even start.

I'm trying to do my income tax return but I keep getting an error message on multiple browsers and computers. Anyone else encountered this?

    "We're Sorry…

Something went wrong and we are having trouble processing your request at this time.

Please come back later and try again.

    Error ID: FORM126828435331953586492"

Okay cool, I'll try again later. Thanks!

It's not a Guess. It's the actual position, in real time, as things stand based on income and credits to date.

Happens...you need to try later...evening or early morning

Sorry, when I said guess I meant what you said but it was alot shorter to say guess. I should have maybe said estimation based on evidence to hand, but you may have other credits/expenses/incomes they are unaware of. I didn't actually think they were using a random number generator, apologies if my wording gave the impression I thought the technical staff were guessing numbers over coffee for sh1ts and giggles, I foolishly thought that no one would think it was a literal guess.

Went at mine yesterday, decent refund due to over payment before I added my extras, WFH, Rent Credit etc. Ran through all that submitted what I need to.

Paranoia got the better of me today and I logged back in to check again and I'm presented with the same thing still, SOL shows as available and when I click request I see same details as yesterday with the option to "Complete my income tax return" at the bottom of the page. So now wondering if system actually recorded what I did yesterday, did I actually submit? Or is this just standard that option remains there even after you have submitted? Dont want to go through process again if I have done, but also don't want to leave it if it wasn't submitted correctly!

    Anyone seen similar to know?

As if the Revenue Commissioners are reading my comments / watching my browsing, seconds after I posted this I got a confirmation email that it had gone through! Only took 30hours but I'll take it 😁

In rent tax claim how much did you stated if you dont mind asking me..as its a little confusing

If a married couple - joint assessed & your annual rent is in excess of €5,000 you enter €5,000 (max relief available for married couple) if married - separate assessed or single & your annual rent is in excess of €2500 you enter €2500 (max relief available for single persons)

In the case of people in a house share everyone enters their own rent amount - if annual rent if over €2500 enter €2500 if under €2500 enter the annual rent amount.

You can go back in and amend your income tax return to include the working from home relief & an amended SOL will issue and a refund if one due.

Does anyone else have an issue with submitting receipts?

the button for actually submitting my receipts is not showing for me so all my receipts are stuck as not claimed status
