Yes, this is the only way to precondition the battery. It uses battery power to get them heated up and ready for fast charge so would be a waste of potential range to have it enabled at all times.

Don’t have a crystal ball I’m afraid but I don’t see diesel dropping below €1.60/L and will probably creep back up towards €2. I’m thankfully locked in to the Energia EV plan until next September at really good day/night rates but in the long term an average price of at least 35c/45c per kWh is probably what we are looking at. Maybe worse but PV will take the sting out of that if you have the capital and a suitable location to install it. Public DC charging is likely to be at least 65c/70c per kWh

So my car is 12 months old and it has Winter mode so it should be able to get the update, all new cars will have this installed already.

I'm just wondering if anyone with a 2022 car has managed to get the update from their dealer.

My dealer told me mine was done but I still only have Winter mode.

Have you ever updated your infotainment system since you got the car?

The latest update from November enables this feature & changes Winter Mode to Battery Conditioning.

Yes, the car was in last week and supposedly updated, but the software version for the head unit is dated November, has anyone a newer version?

The infotainment software version is the upto date one.

Yeah I can generally agree with that

I also don't see the fuel credits ever being taken back which will soften the price

Another interesting aspect of ordering a Tesla instead:

It may not turn out to be so cheap if the waiting times end up being too long.

As from July 2023 the 5k grand will start to taper off. How much? Nobody knows... Maybe only by 1k a month, maybe they remove the whole 5k immediately, we'll have to wait and see.

So it may not be a good move to cancel the I5 order to get a cheap Tesla. Depending on waiting times and government actions..

I suppose used prices would be affected as well though?

Been thinking about the Tesla price drop a good bit since Friday. Will this make much difference really to anyone that has an IONIQ 5? If it plays out that this decrease results in most manufacturers reducing prices, when we go to trade in the IONIQ for something else, we will get less for the IONIQ than before but the new car will also be lower so it's much of a muchness.

    Am I thinking too simply?

I just picked up the IONIQ and was closely looking at the Tesla as the other option but ruled it out on price and trade in. Hyundai offered me far more for my old big dirty diesel car than anyone else so I wanted to get away from it as quickly as I could and adore the styling of the IONIQ, borderline think it's an art-piece!. I just don't want to get bitten too much for the next car.

Anyone know if you can use the Ioniq 5 12v battery to jump start another car? Searched online but couldn't find much guidance.

Thinking of selling my ioniq 5 executive which will turn 1 on the 22nd and with 15,000 km. Got a few extras:

    -boot and back windows tinted

    -5 year service pack

    -v2l adapter

Car is in excellent condition throughout. Haven't seen any 2nd hand i5s on carzone, so not sure about pricing. Does 38k sound reasonable?

I'll get proper pictures and put it on sale in the coming days...

Any feedback is welcome and of course anyone interested please feel free to message me :)

The battery for an electric vehicle is a few thousand Euro.

There are a good few used on carzone now, including a couple of executives.

This happens prices move in a recession/downturn. I was thinking moving mine on around July as was think cars would be outside the grant but I think I'll hold on to it longer.

Hopefully they all buy Tesla's maybe ioniq 5 will be more niche then 🤑

Try a few of the valuation sites and add a bit. Typically 20% depreciation in the first year. Time of getting the same money or more from your EVs are gone now thanks to musk.

Thank you and thanks John arse as well!!

I'll have a look for sure.. in my case, I can't complain about musk as if I sell it'd be to get a model y, but yeah, only if I got something on that region, otherwise I'm pretty happy with my ioniq 5 :)

Only people I think who'll get value out of the Tesla price drops are cash buyers as trade in will take a hit (bet when people start getting their "new" trade in values their won't be value in it, price changes when they update the used Tesla prices should be a good indicator) also GMFV will take a hit so PCP won't be as attractive.

I just got a call form our dealer that the car we ordered for March will never arrive. (color discontinued)

He has only one available for us that can actually arrive in March (the others are end of May). It's a color my wife won't want, but that one actually has a VIN assigned to it already.

If I manage to convince the wife and I can get the dealer to share the VIN with me.. How much of a guarantee is that that it'll be here for March you reckon? ...and can the VIN be used to track the car to see some progress in any way? (how?)

If it has a VIN, then car is built and is on ship to Ireland now for March delivery

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 132 ✭✭Abel Magwitch

I was called a week before Christmas and told my car had been assigned a vin and due to arrive 12th Feb, which would mean late Feb or early March delivery to me

So if it has a vin imo it should be on that boat, presuming there is only one delivery for March timeline

I don’t know about May delivery how likely that is to be on time. If you are not going with the March one I would also consider the Model 3/Y as a backup as their delivery time is supposedly March/April so before the grant goes/reduces

Talking to the wife just today we both agreed very happy with the Ioniq5 and with the M3/Y drop to similar level we still would not have went for it but would have considered it more seriously than the others we did (ID line I’m looking at you) But cars are very subjective as everyone wants something different out of it

We accepted the change to Atlas White (I liked it from the start, my wife went along with it now)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,132 ✭✭✭xboxdad

I got the VIN now, but all decoders (all dodgy looking web sites) say invalid VIN. It isn't a typo as I got a screenshot of the dealer's system.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,132 ✭✭✭xboxdad

Some ppl can track boats and see where the car is apparently. Would be great to know how. (I got the VIN)

White doesn't suit all cars, but imo looks well on the Ioniq. Nice bright white as well. if you know what I mean..
