    It did this the first time I updated, seems normal.

    I think that message was on the screen for over 40 minutes, just leave the power on and come back in an hour.

    Glad you're liking it! I'd generally use i-pedal in and around town, and shift it to Level 2 for the motorway. I dont generally use Level 1, and Level 0 feels a bit weird to be honest.

    Rule of thumb is less regeneration at higher speeds, as you're better keeping your forward momentum rather than regeneration which is never 100% efficient at clawing back the energy. Around town you'd be braking frequently anyway so regeneration is perfect

    I generally use i-Pedal in traffic and auto almost everywhere else. The auto mode seems very good at picking a suitable level. When I'm driving on primary roads or motorways I'm pretty much always in cruise control anyway.

    All the modes give you regen also on the brake pedal, except zero regen mode. Which is a bit odd. Handy for cleaning your brakes though..😉

    Booked my car in for it's 30k service at 09.30 this morning, just came back to the dealer 3 hours later and it's still sitting where I left it!

    I can see why people buy Tesla!

    They can't work on it straight away, they have to wait some time for the engine to cool down :)

    They have to let the oil settle in the sump before it can be changed

    Tesla service has gotten worse recently but at least they can push out over the air updates and they have no big servicing requirements like other brands.

    Well it's 10K cheaper than its equivalent Ioniq 5 trim level now isn't it?

    That pays for a lot of kilowatt hours.

    The range on the 46k MY is not anywhere near it’s suggested range from what I have been reading. Price seems on par with the exec or exec plus 58kwh battery. And the long range on par with the larger battery. Tesla has extra tech but no garage nearby (debatable if needed), a sterilised interior (suits some)

    All in all I see why some would want one and others not.

    But it is definitely not 10k cheaper than any of it’s competitors

    I think of all the Tesla competitors impacted by Tesla price cuts.

    The Ioniq 5 will be the most resilient.

    Its a large car with good space and comfort.

    Charging capability is good and battery conditioning pre a rapid charge capability is present.

    Its made by a mainstream brand that lots of new to EV people are now familiar with.

    You've got local dealers in various parts of the country.

    Its a good car and not a bad price for what you get even allowing for Teslas price cuts.

    And you can argue a solid case for buying an Ioniq 5 as a very good car still vs the Tesla.

    One of the arising questions is will this only drag down the 2nd hand prices of Model 3/Y cars 3 years from now when PCP runs out on these 1st cheaper ones - and the 2nd hand Ioniq 5 will still sell at a higher price as it's more exclusive at that point, or it'll just crash the 2nd hand prices across the board? It'd be great to have the answer for that before deciding which car to order.

    Still wouldn't buy a model Y at that price the looks and lack of USS.

    Also I'd say the queue for MY's may have gotten a little longer.

    I'm not entirely familiar with the RWD Model Y, but with the various price changes recently, it appears to be the same price as the Exec Ioniq 5. If I were buying today, I feel it would be a tough choice which to go for. (And I say that as a well declared fan of the Exec I5)

    The Tesla Model Y RWD is now €46500 odd, LR is €53900. Both after grant incl delivery etc. How does that compare to Hyundai's latest price list?

    We have a base 58kWh i5, terrific value at €38K last year and missus loves it. But on a very long run we would normally take my Model 3 with a similar size battery, due to the incredible efficiency and ease of Supercharging.

    The exec plus 58kwh fully delivered will be ~€46k

    The same spec 77kwh fully delivered will be ~€51k


    The Tesla will have better motorway efficiency, good ota updates. The SU network is only relevant in Ireland if on the smaller battery and you are prone to long day trips and not charging at home (debatable how many buyers fit this bracket. Same applies to Ioniq as most people charge at home most of the time)

    The Ioniq will offer less motorway efficiency but better range on rural/city roads (as per internet posts, presuming larger battery???). Ioniq offers good trade in network (more than Tesla) and dealerships countrywide


    Like I said above both are fairly evenly competing. Take away the never ending love affair some have for Musk on one side and also the reluctancy to shift away from dealerships down the road on the other (also applies to VW) and you have similarly priced cars that can fit your needs depending on family lifestyle

    Yeah interesting,just picked up an ioniq 5 last week(which is the dogs nuts imo)but would probably have looked at the tesla if i hadn't.I do feel the tesla is a bit dated looking personally and the dash set-up wouldn't be for me but at that money however🤔🤔🤔?

    Anyone sign-up for Charge My Hyundai yet?

    Is it any cheaper to use ESB eCars DC chargers with Hyundai card?

    It looks to be 55c per unit but hard to tell if that is vat inclusive.

    leather (does base Ioniq @ 43k come with leather?)

    traffic aware cruise control

    panaramic roof

    auto tailgate

    boot space

    performance

    range and efficiency should be better in the MY even with the same battery sizes

    Theres a lot to argue that this will take sales from the other manufacturers, I guarantee you the other manufacturers are worried about this.

    I really like the i5, and it’s what I would drive if I didn’t drive current EV/PHEV.

    Good to have the choice I suppose.

    Closest equivalent Hyundai spec to the MY is Platinum which is €56.5k now after the recent price increase

    But let's say you don't want a MY in a home appliance colour the gap is €48K vs €56.5k, so not quite 10K but close.

    Black is also a no cost option now.


    Does the Ioniq 5 need the costly battery coolant replacement still which adds to the ownership cost.

    Black and white is free with Tesla.

    Black is a paid option with Hyundai.

    Also, my home appliances are grey. I’d have to pay Tesla €1200 to match my appliances!
