Flops and Bangers for 2023, whats your guess?

2022 was a bad year for Hollywood, Revenue down a 1/3 and attendance down nearly half in compared to 2019. 2023 kinda looks like the same formula, most of the big films are franchises and reboots.

My Guess

Success: Ant Man,Creed 3,John Wick 4, Renfield looks interesting (not sure does well) , Fast Z (does a billion), Spiderman, The Flash, MI (a billion) , Oppenheimer, Barbie , Blue Beetle

flop: House Party,Shazam,Dungeons & Dragons, Little Mermaid, Transformers, No Hard Feelings, Indiana Jones, Marvels, Kraven the Hunter, The Exorcist, Wonka, The Color Purple

looking forward to, and think they will be good - Spiderman, Mission Impossible, Oppenheimer and guardians of the galaxy.

hoping will be good, but unsure - Indiana Jones, Dune, Creed

shite - Fast x , Marvels , Cocaine Bear, Aquaman

not a clue about - Barbie, Mario

Box-office-wise, I think Super Marios Bros, Fast X and Mission Impossible will compete to be the year's highest grosser. The Little Mermaid will be massive too.

I think Barbie will be a 'surprise' hit and Oppenheimer will be a relative flop. I reckon every MCU movie will do fine but every DC movie will only do OK, mainly because diehard fans are aware that a reset is on the way.

I think Renfield and Dungeon & Dragons will be hard flops. Wonka and Dune Part II will decide if Chamalet is a proper star or flavour of the month.No idea what demand is for more Transformers, TMNT and Indy.

Evil dead rise should do well enough as there seems to be enough interest there. Also was supposed to be a steaming release but moved to cinemas due to positive response to screenings. Irish interest there as well with the director

More Irish interest with The Last Voyage of the Demeter (Liam Cunningham, Aisling Franciosi, Chris Walley, and of course Bram Stoker lol), but it was in development hell for a decade or two so I'm expecting a hard flop unfortunately. I hope it's good enough to be a success though, as it also stars David Dastmalchian who's blummin' great.

As for the full schedule, wow - there are plenty of potential duds in there. Of all the big budget stuff, Mission Impossible is the only one I'm really interested in. Marvel will sell plenty of tickets, DC not as many, and Kraven (Sony) will flop. I'm somewhat interested in Oppenheimer, but I'm not Nolan's biggest fan generally speaking.

I'm surprised they decided to release Blue Beetle theatrically. Just don't see it doing well.

At least with the lesser known Marvel characters you know you're watching what is basically an episode of an ongoing series which may be relevant going forward.

With this we know the DC movies will be rebooted so why bother unless you just want to see Blue Beetle on screen.

Ant-man, Guardians, Mario, Fast X, Little Mermaid, Spider-Man, Mission Impossible and Marvel's should do well.

I think D&D and Shazam well do okay. Though D&D is released only a week before Mario, which may affect performance.
