That’s not woke, that’s mocking woke people.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

There is less than 1% chance that anyone is motivated by a desire not to “offend the paedophiles.”

People are just making up reasons to be “offended” themselves, and it’s not the “wokies.”

    @RobbieTheRobber what do you think?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,789 ✭✭✭RobbieTheRobber

The whole renaming of paedophiles thing by Scotland police is a made up story by british and other tabloids that boards right wing idiots are now swallowing whole like all the other conspiracy bullshit they do.

But as usual the usual morons who support anything they perceive as anti woke will swallow any lie no matter how stupid it is.

On that note this is my stop and I don't want to bother talking to these idiots anymore Livia.

Here is the British independent on that story

Oh and here is Scotland police calling it bullshit.

Statement regarding use of term Minor-Attracted Person

Police Scotland has issued the following statement in response to media reporting which misrepresents our position on the term “Minor-Attracted Person”.

Detective Chief Superintendent Sam Faulds, Head of Public Protection for Police Scotland, said: “We utterly condemn anyone who commits sexual offences against children, be it individuals or organised paedophile networks, and we work tirelessly to bring them to justice.

“Police Scotland does not use the term Minor-Attracted Person to describe this type of offender and any suggestion otherwise completely misrepresents our position.

But that wont stop the idiots from believing the lies and being allowed to post those lies here over and over and over and over and over and over again.

**** the truth when you can post anti woke lies!

Cheers for clearing that up. Didn't think it was like the Scots tbh, but the world is getting crazier every day. I think it says something when articles like that are believed, whereas previously they would immediately have been called out for their BS years ago. And Google being crap at googling doesn't help so it puts me off checking further. All my woke "news" comes from this thread mainly...

I've no issue with people believing something which is incorrect, so long as they acknowledge it and change as a result. I've no time for people who continue as if they're still correct. I'll admit to believing the article, but I didn't give it much to begin with. Also, the fact the Scottish police had to come out and clarify also means it got far more legs that it should have. Wonder will the ones who posted it have to retract it? Probably not.

Definitely not, nor will the “well this is how the world is going” boomer commentators.

They’re perfectly happy to live in their fantasies where cops give hugs to paedos before mocking “wokies” for believing in fairy tales themselves. It would make you laugh if it wasn’t so utterly pathetic.

Well I mean, the term was used, in a report, published by Police Scotland.

The chief constable’s assessment of the force’s performance in 2021-22 said its specialist crime division had engaged with a European project aiming to “avoid the victimisation of children by engaging Minor-Attracted People (MAPs) and providing them with the necessary support, treatment and guidance to help prevent criminal activities”.

The use of language in the report, published in June, was condemned

And it is used by some at least, probably more than 1%, to avoid stigma (or so as not to offend)

Coined as a form of abstraction, with the intention of avoiding the stigma attached to pre-existing terms, and to serve as an umbrella term for nepiophilespedophileshebephilesephebophiles.

Some people prefer to use the term MAP when discussing pedophiles because they believe "MAP" carries less stigma and is therefore easier for the average person to understand,

Would it have not made more sense to group all 4 under a new word "paisophile" umbrella (if Google is good at translating Greek), instead of giving them a name which sounds like it's from Sesame Street? I also reckon some people will be shocked to see what they thought was paedophile is actually just 1 of 4 terms depending on the sex and age of the child in question.

Are they only MAPs until they get caught doing something? Are they then upgraded to one of the -philes? Never thought I'd see the day when the feelings of a paedo are taken into account...

    From the Scottish Police report linked earlier;

The term referenced in a Police Scotland report in June 2022 was quoted from proposal documents for the establishment of the Horizon Project, a European consortium to tackle child sexual abuse and exploitation.

“At the first meeting of the consortium, in Warsaw in September 2022, Police Scotland officers successfully lobbied for the MAP term to be removed from recognised terminology used by more than 20 European partners.

So it seems the term MAP's was proposed as alternate lingo.

All that has been exposed is that it wasn't the Scottish Police that was behind it, rather against it to be fair, but some other entity. Therefore one can't claim there was no was push to use the term MAP's in lieu of paedophile, that it never happened and was all made up by the tabloid press.

'All that has been exposed is that it wasn't the Scottish Police that was behind it, rather against it to be fair, but some other entity.'

An EU-funded consortium called Horizon Europe Project, with "recognised terminology used by more than 20 European Partners."

The partners can be "associated countries, the private sector, foundations and other stakeholders" according to this link.

    I mean Shut up boomer!

Doubly funny; as well as the sign being wrong, the offended woman who pretended to know Irish was also wrong as to what the text meant.

Teaching Irish, a waste of time.

The Irish language is “woke” now is it? Or is it woke to ask for signs to be translated properly? 🫠

I'd say the original tweet was trying to be woke all-right, on the eve of #NollaignamBan and all...

i mean it depends how you define 'woke' I suppose, but the first result on google: "alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination." or dictionary.com: "having or marked by an active awareness of systemic injustices and prejudices, ..." would do.

Not on topic, but what is that racoon holding? I need to know.

Clearly I'm cursed, but I was unlucky enough to turn on the TV Sunday evening to instantly see Panti Bliss after his performance make a statement that somehow his inclusion in Dancing With The Stars was some historic wow moment in the eyes of gay men of Ireland, especially those of 'Co.Mayo' as he so strangely often references in making his points as if RTE broadcasting in Co.Mayo is historically different from say what RTE broadcast in Cork.

You'd think that someone like Rory O'Neil would have some awareness that gay men are fed up and have fought against the idea that gay men are women inside, for which his contribution on Dancing With the Stars goes in no way goes to rebut.

So you'll excuse me Mr Bliss if I wasn't writhing around on the floor in gay pride euphoria after seeing him on DWTS. If he done it as himself i.e. Rory O'Neil well then maybe he would have a point. Thanks for nothing Rory you big jawed dude.

Anyway, not gonna eat anything before bed tonight as I know what will happen.

So is it being billed as a same sex couple dancing together or are we supposed to believe that is a male/female couple dancing or is it a fluid situation?

  • Registered Users Posts: 993 ✭✭✭rightmove

watched bits of the harry interview. Poor lad suffered from unconscious bias. Must be suffering from conscious bias now so I suppose. Some clown

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,310 ✭✭✭Quantum Erasure

I think he's said he'll perform at least one of his dances as himself, so a fluid situation I suppose...

    In other news

I'm sure there's a point to this, but I'm not sure what it is

This is a great read on the vital dangers of the word 'field' as it COULD BE considered anti-black or anti-immigrant...

'going into the field' becomes 'going into the practicum'

    'field work' becomes 'practicum work'

The 'field of play' I guess, is white supremacist so it's imperative that it becomes 'practicum of play' to save humanity.

    Oh the Humanities!

The issue is never the issue; the issue is always the revolution.

The Entryism process: 1) Demand access; 2) Demand accommodation; 3) Demand a seat at the table; 4) Demand to run the table; 5) Demand to run the institution; 6) Run the institution to produce more activists and policy until they run it into the ground.

I assume none of this is happening in African schools. Wait till they hear of paddy fields. I assume UCD will be all over that. 🤣

From Late Latin, neuter of practicus (“practical”), from Ancient Greek πρακτικός (praktikós, “of or pertaining to action, concerned with action or business, active, practical”), from πράσσω (prássō, “I do”).

    Patriarchy. Neuter also.

The lunatics have taken over the asylum.

If you had come out with these ideas 10 years ago, they would have put a strait jacket on you and rang the men in white coats for you.

Anyone who immediately thinks of slavery when they hear the word field has some serious issues.

What next, the banning of colours brown, black, yellow, red and whatever else takes your pick?

And cotton. Both cotton and the word cotton must be banned or we'll all be racist.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,507 ✭✭✭Badly Drunk Boy

Hey, wait one cotton-pickin' minute!! Does that mean I'll have to grow me shpuds in the practicum?

  • Registered Users Posts: 888 ✭✭✭nolivesmatter

    "Words are powerful"

Ironically they're only empowering the word further, if it ever really had any power to begin with at all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 990 ✭✭✭Doc07

Just as an FYI it’s just a niche department within the university behind this. They are now being ridiculed, as reasonably expected. The main university has confirmed the word ‘field’ is absolutely not banned.

    This is from 2016

the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work educates one of every 20 master’s level social workers in the United States and has an alumni network of 15,000. The school has informed, impacted and led national policy discussions on issues such as homelessness, aging, veterans’ mental health issues and crisis response.

The largest school of social work in the world, it enrolled about 3,200 students this fall and has nearly 160 full-time faculty and 440 part-time faculty, working on campus and in the field.
