If someone has an ordinary electric meter at home and no electricity is used for 6 months they still get a bill as you have to pay the standing charges. What happens if you are with PrepayPower and you dont use electricity and dont top up for 6 months?

A standing charge applies for both prepay and post pay providers. With prepay you top up and if you dont use any electricity the credit will be used to pay the standing charge.

Prepay providers tend to be bad value for money when compared to other providers.

Well, technically they'd be in credit as they would get the Govt 3 x €200 credit 😉

And it's not just the standing charge, also the prepayment meter charge of ~€135pa

but you have to type in the code to get govt credit! And I mean if the house was vacant for 6 months or more
