sky hd box help

My Ferguson Ariva has stopped working (other post) so for now i found a old sky +hd box in the loft thinking i could use this for BBC,ITV,CH4/5 etc for now, but apparently not, i get BBC ,but everything else is insert sky viewing card, i am not with sky have some old sky cards, i thought ch4/5 , ITV was freeview, anyway around this ,also see Virgin 1/2/3 cant get them as no sky subscription, no ITV on list.
