Heaslip was a strong advocate for this. If he wasn’t causal, he was certainly influential in the debate about players rights to privacy on medical issues.

Would say that our season may hinge on the upcoming Ulster game. We need to throw every resource we have at this game. I don't see the Leinster game as a runner so we can blood players for that game. We need to be realistic with our expectations

I personally don't feel entitled to anyone's medical information but a lot of fans care about player availability, fantasy teams, stats, and contract lengths. Feels like rugby could do more in those areas.

Well teams are announced days in advance unlike soccer which is the hour of so better for fantasy teams.

Most teams give out even bare bones who's available and who isn't

The league is pushing stats more and I think who performed well at weekends could be pushed more

Contract lengths will become more of a thing as agents/agency's get involved

Rugby's inability to market an individual is a big problem though

There's presumably nothing stopping provinces/clubs listing players and expected return dates at a minimum. I don't really care what the injuries are but it would be good to know when players are likely to be available. The contracts thing is totally ridiculous in my view, no clue what is gained by that.

Are you sourcing stats from the URC? I used to get them from ESPN but they have stopped.

The contract thing is probably to make it harder for players to be targeted by English or French clubs?

Good looking team, only worry is full back. Really strong bench

That's an excellent side to put out.

Tiernan was very good in the Newcastle game so hopefully carries that form to tomorrow night

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

Why no lock in the replacements? Surely Daragh Murray should get a chance?

Tiarnans been good recently. why would it be a worry?

Dowling i assume is cover. usually plenty of rotation over christmas. probably involved next time round

Two backrows on the bench (SHL and Butler) clearly the idea is that Dowling can be shifted over from 6 if required. Bit surprised not to see Aungier, they must be expecting Finlay to put in a long shift because DRMc is not in my best 23.

I can’t see it making any difference these days with every player having representation, surely very basic part of their job is ensuring all potential clubs are aware so their client is in best bargaining position. It could be a hangover from when that was the case though.

Thornbury out for season, poor guy wasn’t far off an international cap at his peak in recent seasons, injuries have really derailed him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,713 ✭✭✭testtech05

Sickener for him and a big loss for the team. Boyle out until Feb aswell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,706 ✭✭✭BrokenMan

Man can't catch a break at all. Gutted for him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 887 ✭✭✭Zeugnis

That's dreadful news. Must be so tough after missing almost all of last season. Connacht will cope, but he has had so many injuries over his career. He is a fantastic player, was great for turnovers and a habitual dismantler of opposition lineouts. I hope he has the resources and support to get through this,.

D.Murray, N.Muray Fifita Murphy Dowling Prendergast

    We're ok for now

Boyle back in 8 weeks is rather correct news!

My Christmas wish is that Caolin finally uses our back line. But I will attend the game in the knowledge he will just fcuk around at the back of a hard earned ruck and will fcuk with everyone's head

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 338 ✭✭Strand1970

Blade and marmion complement each other. When the other player comes off the bench the speed and focus of the game changes and the opposition struggle to adjust. If Blade took the ball on just a little bit less he would more effective for certain. Interesting tonight playing against 2 scrum half's, he might run less as he will be on their radar.

Can’t wait for this game. Connacht have been slowly building a very good squad and are stacked in the row, the two Murrays, Thornbury, Dowling, Murphy…then you have Porch, Mack, Hawkshaw Bundee in the back amongst others. I really am excited by the players they’re bringing through and in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 338 ✭✭AccidentallyOnside

    Good squads on both sides.

A touch worried ulster are going to play like demons possessed after their last couple of weeks disappointment.

We need to be really on it tonight.

My major concerns is we have no really strong kickers in open play apart from Jack, it's why I like seeing Fitzgerald at fb.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,713 ✭✭✭testtech05

Some good defence from us in that half but lot of sloppy mistakes aswell.

5-3 down with all the possession ulster have had not the worst return.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,033 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Don’t think Connacht have had one decent attack in this game yet. Basically defending with a few turnovers hoofed downfield followed by a kick chase.

Not holding on to the ball at all. Not putting any phases together. Attack nowhere to be seen again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,713 ✭✭✭testtech05

Prendergast robbed the ball in that maul not sure what he had done wrong for it to be a pen against us?

Will be a sickener if ulster score a try from the resulting lineout

Haven’t seen a massive amount of Connacht this season, is Tiernan O Halloran this poor all the time or is it just this game?
