Seems a lot of talk of Bellingam going to Liverpool...that would be a massive coup for Liverpool if it happened. It would be a surprise though I thought he's end up at one of the bigger clubs in Europe..Madrid or Barca or even City in England

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,324 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

Timing could work out well for Liverpool - bigger clubs are all looking at other parts of their squads so are unlikely to be paying 120m for Bellingham.

Real in particular are looking very strong in midfield and they need to start looking at a striker. Barca are a mess. Utd need to spend in a few positions and finances are not good. Bayern won't spend that money. Options are running out.

From Bellingam's pov it is a nice step up from BD and you'd think Klopp will really bring his game on to the next level. The move to Real or Barca can come down the line (Like Haaland). It is starting to look like it makes a lot of sense unfortunately.

Can't see Bellingham moving to Spain ,

If he joins any English team & wins things he will stay in England the league is just far more enjoyable to play in for English players for so many reason's

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,324 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

He went to Germany to further his Career when playing in England with moves to English clubs available.

If Real Madrid come knocking he'll be interested I'm sure

I'd have know doubt whatsoever that Bellingham will play in Spain before he retires.

I'd actually say he would be the kind of player that would love to play in as many top leagues as possible before he is finished playing.

At 19 he still has at the very least 16 more years left to play I'd highly doubt he will stay at his next club whichever Country it is in for the next next 16 years.

Madrid have been knocking so we shall see,

I think he went to Germany as he knew he'd play & have a chance to come back experienced at 19/20 instead of waiting till that age for a break out season at a top club .,

He's been manged well be his father ,

City ready to spend £100m+ on Gvardiol and make him the most expensive defender in the world.

I'd say Maguire will be delighted and wants that monkey off his back.

t'would be nice to have unlimited cash.

part of the reason i have them as favorites to get bellingham. not necessarily cos they need him but to stop a rival strengthening and the money dont matter, so why not?

Chelsea after signing Nkunku. Another forward for the club to ruin.

Boehly really is playing Fantasy Manager/Owner that is €350m spent on players since he bought the club at the end of May.

    Everton have released Rondon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Toney has been charged with 30 more breaches of the FA's gambling rules taking it to a total of 262 breaches and has until January 4th to reply.

He is proper fcuked I'd say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,033 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Connor Clifford got a six month ban for a 112 breaches relating to betting. I'd say Toney will be lucky if he kicks a ball before Euro 2024.

Yeah, he’s rightly screwed himself and his career. How transferable will his ban be I wonder. Can he go elsewhere in Europe to still play during his banned period, or failing that the MLS or something?

Will likely be a worldwide ban. Clifford's ban was given to him after he left the UK and came back to play with Dundalk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,042 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

Kieran Trippier, AMadrid and La Liga appealed against his FA imposed ban on the grounds (roughly) that his betting infringement was only against additional FA rules and not against FIFA/football rules, and therefore shouldn't apply outside England.

CAS upheld his ban (which I must admit surprised me as on the face of it I thought he had a compelling enough case, though I never read their reasoning). But on the basis of that ruling Toney looks to have nowhere to play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Tripper was charged with I think 10 breaches the 262 Toney is charged with might make a different story if he gets banned and brings ot to CAS.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,042 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

Well if Trippier couldn't win at CAS then I don't see much hope for Toney.

At some level I don't particularly like that the English FA can come up with their own rule and have it apply worldwide, though ultimately the players will have presumably signed up to these rules. And as said I don't think CAS ever released a full ruling so it's hard to know the exact reasoning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I misread your origianl post I read it as CAS overturned it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,877 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I thought Tripper was 1 charge, resulting in a 10 game ban.

And he didn't even place a bet himself, he just told his friends he was transferring clubs.

It was one breach but telling 10 different mates to lob money on is move and they were all caught red handed by leaving the messages on their whtasapps. I don't even think it was that much money they were betting I the biggest bet was £50 at 6 to1 with £10 & £20 going on as the odds came down I say a couple of grand at the most was won.

Toney is done he will get two years at a minimum I would say he will be nearly 30 by the time he can play top level again that will see him down the lower leagues again if he returns to football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,033 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Don't think he'd get two years and going by Barton's ban he might get a 12 month ban or if it's more than 12 months he'll get it reduced on appeal. Barton placed 1,260 bets and included games he played in I believe and his ban was reduced from 18 months to 13 months on appeal.

Who will be the most affected team in terms of players late from the WC? Utd could be missing both their centre halves? I’d be thinking all the English players will be available?

Everyone Utd player who went out of the world cup by the quarter finals (except Maguire who was ill) was involved last night. I wouldn't be surprised to see Varane and Martinez involved in the new years fixtures if not Forest on the 27th.

Premier League referees 'made six incorrect VAR interventions' during the first part of the season - including a disallowed goal for Arsenal at Manchester United.

A review by an independent panel, comprising three former players and representatives from the Premier League and referee's body PGMOL, found six errors from 48 overturned decisions in the games prior to the World Cup break.

According to ESPN, this includes Gabriel Martinelli's strike which would have put Arsenal 1-0 up in the 12th-minute at Old Trafford.

The Video Assistant Referee [VAR] Lee Mason advised on-pitch referee Paul Tierney the goal should be ruled out for a foul by Martin Odegaard on Christian Eriksen in the build-up. United went on to win the match 3-1.

The assessment concluded the goal should have stood, with other examples including Maxwel Cornet's 90th-minute equaliser for West Ham in a 2-1 loss at Chelsea in early September.

That was disallowed by VAR because Jarrod Bowen was adjudged to have fouled the Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy just before Cornet scored.

Other examples of incorrect VAR calls include an own goal by Crystal Palace's Tyrick Mitchell at Newcastle which was disallowed for a foul in the build-up by Joe Willock on goalkeeper Vicente Guaita. That match finished goalless.

There was also a penalty awarded to Brentford at Nottingham Forest, when VAR decided goalkeeper Dean Henderson had brought down Yoane Wissa for the spot-kick. Bryan Mbeumo scored the penalty and Brentford went on to win 3-1.

A Douglas Luiz red card for violent conduct against Aleksandar Mitrovic in the 62nd minute of Aston Villa's 3-0 defeat at Fulham was also deemed to be incorrect. Villa were just 1-0 down at the time.

Also a handball decision that went against Villa's Lucas Digne to concede a penalty at Crystal Palace that Wilfried Zaha scored on the rebound was a mistake.

The review also flagged up several more missed interventions, ESPN reported, including two West Ham goals that should have been disallowed for handball in their 3-1 home win against Fulham.

It comes as former Premier League official Howard Webb takes over as PGMOL's chief refereeing officer with a brief to improve standards at ground and in the VAR centre at Stockley Park.

A dedicated VAR coach has been appointed to work with officials who use the technology.

Spurs, MUFC, Chelsea by amount of players but I'd say Aston Villa & perhaps Brighton based on importance of player. The backup to Emi Martinez is poor. Mc Allister is Brighton's biggest forward threat. Everyone else should be able to cope. This was a list of players I came up with in FPL pre the semi-finals.

Argentina - Martinez (Villa GK), Martinez (MUFC defender), Romero (Spurs defender), Alvarez (City forward), Mac Allister (Brighton forward). Some big names (in FPL terms) in that list. Not just a case of looking at the players in question, but who they are up against. e.g., Does Martinez missing a couple of Villa games make it easier for the teams they will be up against.

Croatia - Perisic (Spurs defender), Kovacic (Chelsea MF). Perisic has been a bit of a mixed bag in FPL, arguably been unlucky not to get more points. This deep run probably makes him unlikely to be a factor short-term for Spurs even if Croatia don't go on to win.

Morocco Aguerd (irrelevant West Ham defender), Ziyech (mainly irrelevant Chelsea midfielder)

France - Lloris (Spurs GK), Areola (irrelevant West Ham goalkeeper), Varane (MUFC defender), Saliba (Arsenal defender and key FPL asset, has only played 90 minutes in dead rubber game), Konate (Liverpool defender)

Aguerd certainly isn't irrelevant for West Ham.

Fair enough. As said it was a fantasy football based post originally, but I just thought the full list might be a useful response to the post on this thread.

He'd only played 70 minutes in the first ~15 games of the season, so effectively irrelevant at the time I wrote it as no-one would have had them on their team. Injured maybe? Might be more of a factor going forward.

Yeah, he got injured in preseason and needed surgery, only got back somewhat fit in late October. Id guess going straight from recovery to high intensity is probably the reason he broke down for Morocco. He’s one of West Ham’s biggest ever signings so they’ll be desperate to get him fit again.
