I've seen Overhead, The Albatross once and enjoyed them. I've seen ASIWYFA over 20 times...and I'll be seeing them again in Belfast on Friday. They're a power house live.

I see Siouxsie Sioux has returned to performing after a decade of inactivity, she's headlining Latitude festival. More than likely that ATN might make a bid for her as her music would fit into the festivals demographic. I've a feeling that Jamie XX will be a Something Kind Of Wonderful headliner rather than main stage and possibly Caribou too.

Siouxsie Sioux would be absolutely incredible

Came here to post exactly this. Surely the Melvin Benn connection is stronger than any ATN attempt to book her?

Electric Arena will be a Happy House this year all being well.

Yeah I think if there ever was a band to be commended for their covers it has to be Siouxsie and the Banshees for their cover of Dear Prudence, which is absolutely fantastic.

Wasn't it Robert Smith, during his secondment to the banshees, who insisted they do that cover.

Guardian single of the year is Steve Lacy, quite liking him and this could be a great booking.

Went to Damien Dempsey last night, again excellent, overdue an EP return?

Got us tickets for that Orbital in the Mandela Hall, which will be our first ravey outing in that venue in well over a decade when Shine was in there.

I'm going to see ASIWYFA in there tonight. I think the last time I was in there was for Spiritualized.

A rumour on The Chills’ FB pages suggests they’re playing Whelan’s next year. Anyone hear anything about this? Eight years since the last visit and time to hear this again.

Terry Hall, that's a tough one. Far too young and much still to give. At least we got him to the Picnic once but alas never with the specials. Journey on dude, you'll be missed.

Fcuk that's a shocker, tried to catch that gig but couldn't find the venue at EP, was that with the Dub Pistols Seath? RIP Terry Hall, a true genius in all his guises and forms.

That's the exact one, and it was a pretty small tent which was only ever there in 2007 (Trends Lab) so easy to miss. They clashed with most of The Stooges' set so I dashed over and go the last 20 mins which included all of Terry Hall's part. He only did three tracks, Our Lips Are Sealed, Gangsters and I've forgotten the third. The place went mental. Nouvelle Vague were also brilliant in there that year.

He recorded a crackin version of Our Lips Are Sealed with Nouvelle Vague too.

Aaah that's it, it was Sunday night, I remember fruitlessly traipsing about the various stages on my way to the main stage to catch the Stooges set and gave up in the end and headed, still, to a hell of a gig with Iggy which was still tremendous. Its a real pity that the Picnic didn't take the chance to book the Specials when they were touring Northern Ireland in Late August 2019.

The keyboard player from Primal Scream, Martin Duffy passed away today too, sad news. He was only 55.

Stupid predictive text. I'm sure the trade stalls will be great too, but I'm more interested in the trad area.

FFS!!! This and Terry Hall. Not a good 24 hours.

I know PS will always be Gillespie and Innes but will they continue? Probably, i guess.

The Specials must surely be finished. Saw them twice in the Olympia (2009 & 2013) and they were very good, although i didn't feel the need to catch them again after that. It's terrible an Irish festival never booked them.

I think the Specials did play Oxegen in 2009 on same weekend as T in the Park.

They definitely played Belsonic in 2010/11.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,048 ✭✭✭Dreamweapon

Forgot all about Oxegen. EP really should've nabbed them then. Belsonic never even occurred to me. I guess i don't really look upon it as a festival, more a series of one-off events.

Saw both the specials with Terry hall, and the Neville staples band, but for the life of me I can't recall where. That drone intro to ghost town is magnificent

    Yeah. Figured that 😊

There's a FF thread on the go.

The top few acts there are suberb, but I'm not familiar with the bottom half. Hard not to feel that EP missed a trick by not having an area like this.

I thought that the The Spike Island stage in Freetown was supposed to be like this?
