About 6 x 600ml bottles a week, usually in batches of 2 at a time. Want to cut back from that though.

Depends week to week. Usually on weekends it's 6 to 8 cans a night and maybe 2 to 6 drinks drinks on a weekday twice a week.

Trying to cut down overall. My first thing to cut is any and all Sunday drinking. It is really starting to effect my sleep and thus my work week. I do be wrecked until Wednesdays. Only had the two beers over the whole day yesterday and although I'm not as well rested as I could be (Fri and Sat were both heavy nights out) but I feel better than if I'd had more beers on Sunday. It's the days in a row with no break that hurt the most.

Reading this thread makes me glad to realise I’m not the only one with a problem.

Drank an awful lot in 1 sitting back in the day, 15 pints plus on a session and maybe do that twice a week. Was usually after playing a rugby match on saturday and then prob do the same again on Sunday. Cut down big time in my early 30s when I stopped playing and did other things with my weekends. Just wasn't arsed.

Stopped almost completely at start of covid but then myself and the OH started drinking at home a bit, came to enjoy it. Just a few bottles of beer, nothing major.

Went out Friday straight after work and never ate, ended up in a mess and embarrassed. I'd say I had about 12 to 15 pints and not used to that any more. Won't be doing that any more.

Beer in moderation is a beautiful thing, being drunk is horrible

Didn't have a drink from Stephen's day 2019 until January 2022. Covid mostly - pubs closed, was working hard and don't like drinking at home.

Anyway, went back and now go out to the pub about once every three or four weeks. Usually have about five pints if I don't have the car. Otherwise it's sparkling water all night.

One thing I noticed - no matter what I drink - any night I do go to the pub my sleep is regularly interrupted by having to get up and urinate. Usually three or four times a night which means a broken sleep and I am tired the next day. If I don't go out, I sleep fine.

Any solution? I don't recall it being this bad in the past.

Is it possible you're overdoing it with the pints of water before bed? I've recently started having a small glass of water with a dioralyte and it's working a treat for me.

    Thanks for reply

since I went back drinking I haven’t drunk water before bed.

Since posting in August, the problem has got worse. Last month I was up 11 times in one night after six pints of Heineken. A couple of weeks ago I decided to drink vodka & white on a night out. Result was a marked improvement - only had to get up twice during the night. May just have to stop drinking pints.

That sounds pretty abnormal, never happened me before and I put them away at a decent rate. If you're having 11 slashes in a night after pints I'd be saying it to my local GP or I'd reconsider having pints whatsoever.

I drink 3-4 pints twice a month, whenever I go out. Probably twice more than that on holidays.

I do well to have a couple of dry nights a week, not really a pub person just like to unwind with a few beers infront of the TV. Need to get a hobbie i spent way too much time on raising kids and my career.

drinking vodka for last 5 months. Will have to get up once during the night or sometimes not at all. Big improvement. Also can go without breaking the seal in the pub.

I know the feeling. Happening to me a lot with pints too. Can drink 3 pints before breaking the seal, then I could be going at best after every pint after. Or worse, every 10 minutes.

I have come to the conclusion that when I'm tired, it's much worse. I work weird hours and even water can set me off when I've not had enough sleep. If I've had a good sleep the night before I usually don't pee anymore than the lads I'm with.

Between all the getting up after a night on the Guinness or another beer and also a desire to lose weight, I've shifted over to wine, which is much more pleasant. At least if I'm drinking at home anyway. I will still drink pints going out, but I don't go out often these days.

Have also cut down on the drinking at home, which became a much worse habit than it used to be during lockdown

Had 6 on Wed and 5 last night. Going to try to have minimal this weekend and get some work done on the house.

I was at a festival from Thurs to Monday. Lost track of how many beers, shots and wine tbh. However I never got blackout, was just steady drinking over the day staying well hydrated and fed. Great time altogether.

Just suffering a bit now from lack of sleep. Late nights and getting rudely awakened by the sun turning the tent into a sauna.

No plans to drink during the week.

I had too muchgoing on this month to attempt Ocsober but I'm going dry for November. If I manage the whole month I'll be treating myself to a nice little music software package. Wish me luck…

I had a job pre covid that allowed me to work from home, and I lived near a cracking pub, great set of regulars, staff were sound and the manager was into his beers so they would have a rotating list of maybe 4 cask 6 keg beers on.

I fell into a habit of being in there 5-7 days a week 2-4 pints on average in the afternoon so just a sociable few, and it was super relaxing to sit with a book or have a chat.

But when I look back that was ~30 pints a week and I would favour the 5%+ beers. Then when I got home I'd have at least a btl of wine or 4-5 G&Ts, also had untreated sleep apnoea at the time, I'd get regular blood tests and while my ALT/AST was borderline it never blew up, but I guess I was killing myself slowly.

It ramped up post Covid when we were full time working at home and the pubs where back open.

Moved away from there (probably just as well) now I drink maybe 2-4 beers a week and a couple btls spirits, still way too much but when I look back it blows my mind a bit…not to mention the cost, I must have been dropping ~100 a week in there, no wonder I was popular with the staff ha.

Started taking Naltrexone and on Mounjaro to lose weight if I line them up right it makes a G&T or a pint land like its non alc.

I wonder how much damage is done but sure you can't change the past only the future.

i thought i drank a bit too much but im at ease with it when i read some here. usually go out for about 8-10 pint bottles cider each saturday night, may occasionally have a baileys or vodka and red bull but that would only be one for the night. rarely i do two nights like that, maybe a bank holiday weekend i might, of an ordinary weekend i never go friday night, once every 7-8 weeks on bank holiday sunday i have a good sesh as above maybe once every 6 weeks might treat mysef to 6 pints max of a sunday afternoon if im working the next day, from say 4pm-8pm.home eat something and in bed by 11pm if that happens, that would one sunday every 6 weeks though.

i live with parents in my own house and cater for all their needs financially except diesel/petrol and insurance for their cars the rest i look after, fod, esb, fuel, private health insurance and odd time cook dinner for them or bring them to a hotel for dinner. so my saturday night drinks are mostly for my mental well being as much as liking the drink. i need at least one night a week away from the parents and house and look forward to it immensly. really love the peace and solitude of sitting at a bar chatting away. those bold sunday evening drinks are so lovely on a wet cold winters evening.

Cut back a bit last October. Joined the local leisure centre and go swimming on

a Monday, Weds and Friday now. Doing 80 to 90 lengths of a 17m pool each time.

I don't miss the Monday eve beers at all now, it used to be drinking out of boredom.

6 cans on a Sat night and sometimes have a can of Jameson and ginger before bed.

6 on a Sunday night and be in bed before 11. Was out for dinner last Weds night and

had 3 pints and couple of glasses of white wine with that. Felt like dirt next morning!
