I've a RHI-5G model, is this new logger worth getting I wonder, I mean will the cost be worth the extra functionality and how often would I need it.... btw, where did you buy the S3 logger? I want to avoid the bloody import duty, any Irish outfit got them?

I didn't buy it yet, just waiting on my installer to come back to me. Hopefully trade and ex vat price.

Any suggestions how to get a response out of Solis aside from calling them? Ticket open since late October. I've already put a reply into it asking for an update a few weeks ago.

I just got one, thanks to a member of here. However I haven't tested using the app. I'll be honest I only need it in spring and fall for a few days when charging less than 100% at night. I guess if you have to climb into an attic then maybe.

    Now this is odd...

    Sky looks like this:

And yet generation has gone like this:

Dropped to zero for half an hour and now sitting at 71w.

Lads I know this is the wrong thread but it's up to date so maybe one of you might be able to help me. My Eddi hot water diverter and boost function stopped working yesterday. When I had my solar system installed last August it didn't work from the get go so the company sent out an electrician and he changed the harvi box said it was faulty and it worked fine after. Could the harvi box fail again after three months?? It's a pain lovely sunshine yesterday and today and no way of getting hot water unless I turn on the oil. I have a pellet stove and don't need to be using oil to heat water. Just wondering if any of you have had trouble with the eddi hot water diverters. Cheers.

You would have a much better chance of the right people seeing your post on the troubleshooting thread here https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058101518/solar-pv-hints-tips-troubleshooting#latest

PV diversion and booster are unrelated, the boost function has nothing to do with the Harvi so this points to EDDI unit, I'd give MyEnergi a phone call, their support knowledge is excellent

Thanks for the replies lads I have the solar company contacting me this evening and talking me through some options on the phone hopefully they can figure it out and send someone to fix it. No hot water even on boost is definitely not ideal with the cold weather and Christmas coming. Boiling the kettle is a bit of a step back lol.

ooof. Waiting on PureDrive to send the firmware upgrade kit out to me. Seems to be getting worse. It just fell off a cliff.

Have you got the battery insulated in any way? I'm not seeing anything similar on my pair.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,104 ✭✭✭silver_sky

No not insulated. It's in the attic and outside the insulation. It probably doesn't help. Seeing this drops occasionally when a large load like kettle comes on. As soon as it comes on the battery just plummets to 10% and sits there while it tries force charge.

PureDrive say it needs a firmware upgrade they'll send me the wiring harness for it. They're waiting for the technical team to provide it.

Almost 2 months since opening a ticket with Solis and it's finally assigned. No response yet. It seems they're checking with the previous guy I dealt with. It says "Waiting on reply (colleagues)" as a status. At least it's progress!

Killed everything and turned back on, even knocked off the main house fuse for a few minutes and back on.

Checked all cables at the bottom of the inverter, all secure.

Got the installer on the phone, soon found the problem.

He offered to come out, but it's a straight through switch so all he was going to do was shift the lot across to the next one so no point dragging him 2 hours up the road for a 5 minute fix.

He directed, I fixed, up and running just in time for a lovely sunny day.

You wonder if it's worth checking / tightening all terminals annually ?

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 8,299 Mod ✭✭✭✭Jonathan

Any indication of what caused it? Was the clamp screw not tightened? Were you pulling large load when it happened?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,887 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Wasn't pulling a large load, installer reckoned a loose cable.

    Happy New Year guys.

Like most people here busy lives etc..so apologies for not been involved as much as I should have.

I never got the chance to thank all who helped me out on boards in choosing the correct installation, size and other bits and pieces..it was invaluable TBH.

Here's hoping for another good solar year 🙏☺

So now that I'm stuck with just the Solis Cloud app rather than the Home one, what's the easiest way to get my accurate figures for generation, import & export?

I use load shifting for a 20kWh battery and the stupid app reports this as generation.

Is there somewhere in the app that I can get the accurate figures?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,813 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

Import you can always get from the meter, do you not have MyEnergi, that will show import/export too?

With MyEnergi that will also have misleading figures when loadshifting. If you configure your hybrid inverter as just inverter then the power used from battery will appear as generation. Switching to inverter+battery then it doesn't report generation at all as far as I recall.
