7 seater EV or similar petrol options

Have a citreon c4 picasso and it has given us nothing but trouble.

Have 4 kids under 7 so need another 7 seater.

Have looked at EV's and like the Peugeot e-rifter but it will be July at the earliest until they can get me a new one.

Any other ev options out there at a similar price point circa 40k?

Don't need diesel as it's mostly school runs and short driving?

If not ev, what would people recommend, 5008 petrol Allure?

Functional is spec enough for the moment and hoping to keep the car for 10years ideally.

Options?

That's not a bad looking Prius but it's 8 years old.

In terms of EVs, there's the Nissan ENV-200 Evalia, Mercedes EQV, Citroen C4 E Space Tourer

There's also a VW ID Buzz 7 seater variant upcoming if you're okay with remortgaging your house

If you win the lotto then there's the Tesla Model X or the Volvo EX-90

Maybe consider minimum outlay for now on an NV200 passenger for next 1-2 years. Should be very cheap to run and start saving up for a decent 7 seater EV when they eventually become available at reasonable money.

EQV starts at €110k+ so stick that in the lotto category for most people- think the eNV-200 is no longer available so that leaves the Citroen E-SpaceTourer - which starts around €42k and is great value for money - it based on the commercial so its a bit basic. Ive a lot of experience with the diesel version and recommend them highly, they drive well and have loads of space. The ev will have quite a short range - think its 330km WLTP so probably 200km in winter and maybe less at motorway speeds.

Aside from that the 5008 is decent but the pricing is gone mental - Ive a friend who got a mid spec 1.5 diesel and it was early 50's. If you think you can work with the smaller rear seats the Dacia Jogger as mentioned already is a great value - a mid spec petrol is around 28k and they look v good value

I see the 5008 price lists, if your going to spend 50 k, then why not go a little more and look at Kia Sportage or Hyundai Santa fe, phevs, should do 50 km on battery.

I think they are better looking than the transit van EV.

How much do you spend on fuel at the moment?

Wasn't looking at a new 5008, seen some 20's at my upper limit.

Price range max 40k.

Going through fuel like there's no tomorrow!

Yeah looking at a new Dacia alright, ticks a lot of the boxes to be honest.

Don't much about them reliability wise though would be the only question mark.

That and I'd love to go EV. Guess that will have to wait, until there's more choice a few years down the line.

There's plenty of choice now and EVs aren't going to get any cheaper keep in mind.

That Jogger is an interesting proposition alright. When Dacia go electric I think they'll have some tempting offers, on the utility side at least.

There is a hybrid Jogger due in about a year, but an electric 7 seater is not on the horizon for the medium term

You might be right about EV’s not getting cheaper but there’s very little choice for a 7 seat EV at the moment either new or used.

I'm thinking inevitably a Model Y with 7 seats will appear here but as the grant is going it probably won't make it at current MY prices.

Sounds like a sensible choice given the current lack of 7 seat EV options. Volvo EX90 prices published today at €117,900 that doesn’t even include metallic paint. You’d buy a lot of Joggers for that.

Very sensibly priced 7 seater Petrol car. I love the "compare" part on their website, where literally every figure is the exact same across all models, except for the finance rate changing by 0.01% depending on which model you opt for.

How roomy are the rearmost seats?I've an smax and the rear seats are reasonably big. My smaller teenagers would often travel up to 350km non stop in them without any complaints. I've only seen the Jogger on the road a coupe of times and they seem reasonably compact from the outside but they could be well packaged on the inside.

First time I heard of the Jogger was this morning and at first, I thought they were talking about a fancy baby stroller 😂

I say good value because it's hard to get any 7 seater for less than 30k. It being a petrol is a plus. I wouldn't personally get one, as I have committed to only driving EV going forward. Would love a 7 seater one, but prices are too high, or you're driving a van with small range. I'd have ordered a Model Y if available in 7 seat.

Congrats - and I doubt you'll have reliability concerns plus if you dont like it for whatever reason its likely to hold its value really well - Dusters are one of the best cars on the road for resale but the Jogger looks much better all round
