Music acts that many people wouldn't know are still going

As a musical artist and if you take a hiatus, it better be on the back of a good album and followed up with another…you might otherwise lose momentum.

i think too most artists have a shelf life, from a creative standpoint and as regards public interest.

one band I hadn’t heard of in aeons is the Manic Street Preachers. But released a record last year. Were touring too.

How were they ? In the late 90’s they were headlining Glastonbury… to now supporting acts… weird. Some fall from grace.

all in their mid 50’s now, probably just picking and choosing their paydays.

Sha Na Na are still going. Many won't even know who they are but they were the band at the high school dance in Grease but they were also one of the acts at Woodstock and were loved by the crowd.

Still reeling from the OP. Black Eyed Peas, 3 albums in the last 4 years. Prolific! Shite but prolific nonetheless.

I remember them in their early 90s heyday when they were three bald guys, they were kind of famous for their image just before that shaved head look went mainstream. Dropped off the radar till about mid 00s when I remember seeing a picture of them in an article. Just one of the original bald guys plus a woman and another guy I didn't recognise.

They had a bit of a “comeback” a few years back, in that one of their albums was well received and they played a few shows.

Used to bump into Matt around Temple Bar a fair bit in the late 90’s/early 00’s. Sound chap.

Yes is still playing gigs after 54 years: no original members left, one guy from 1970, one from 1980, the rest from the 2000s. Videos I've seen in recent years are not great, to be honest.

What part isn’t true ? They headlined Glastonbury back in the day, late ‘90’s … and now have been supporting other artists ie. Bon Jovi?….

No, my measurement of success is as an established band, making your own way and not supporting corporate stadium rockers for a big payday.

better then 99% of bands ? Hmmmmmmm I would not agree. I’d love to see that magic formula that enabled that conclusion.
