That's what I had going to the slane gig and was genuinely pleasantly surprised. Was not expecting Axl's voice to be as good as it was.

I wonder if The Weeknd will add a 2nd night because the first one is pretty much sold out on presale.

Its going to be another phantom General sale.

I've a few friends who picked up tickets this morning/afternoon so certainly not a phantom sale. The MCD presale sold out after five minutes so I'm not sure how they've shifted so many so fast - I didn't think he was THAT popular. Still not sure what the value of an "open-to-all" presale is...

I think you're officially out of touch with modern music if you don't think The Weekend is that popular. One of the biggest stars on the planet at the moment

Not at all out of touch with music, but thanks for the insight (and the official endorsement). J Balvin is one of the biggest stars on the planet but it doesn't mean he's necessarily selling out Marlay Park in Ireland. My point was that I didn't think he was 'sell out in under 5 minutes in Ireland' popular.

Aaaand as always, Ticketmaster hawking Platinum tickets for the Weeknd at nearly twice the price. Infuriating to see it happen and makes a mockery of the ticket resale legislation.

But hey the money is going towards the artist not a tout

Yeah he's played pretty much every NFL stadium in the past few months, 4 nights in SoFi, the guy sells tickets.

I'd rather a field than a soulless lump of concrete, metal and plastic.

Email from Damian Rice tonight to say he'll be touring in 2023. Hopefully a few Irish dates

He's announced European gigs already and they're on sale. Some sold out. Would expect some Irish gigs alright. Maybe summer one off gigs in Marquee, Big Top and/or Iveagh Gardens.

Was at Bellx1 tonight in Saint lukes, tomorrow they complete their 6th gig at the venue this year, and they announced they would be playing the marquee next year, played a few new tracks, and a new album got mentioned, great gig as usual

The Frames, have a “2 gig ticket” option, unusual, but a fairly limited market, for a two gigs in a row ticket:

That's interesting. Presume there will be a discount on the total ticket price? Guess then they will be playing different sets, might not be totally album based if they're not promoting them as 2 different gigs.

Ya, i’d expect a discount alright, i initially thought it might different “full” albums each night, but no mention of that, at all, on their socials, or on Aikens, about that.

Wonder would this be a new thing now, announce 2 gigs and offer 2 day tix. Metallica did it for their tour, this now done at same time. Pearl jam did it for their London shows too this year. Must be some logic behind it

Save on load in/load out straight away to do two shows. Metallicas one is no repeat so would definitely cater to hardcore type fans.

I was at the Pearl Jam gigs in Hyde Park this year. They played two different sets and were among the best concerts I've attended.

They were discounted rates for two night tickets, 120 pounds for two night ticket. Think it worked out at 70 euro or less maybe per night from what I remember.

Think there could be a demand too as with covid some artists haven't toured here in a while and might not tour again for another few years. Handier than say flying somewhere else and having to pay for accommodation too. Interesting to see if it becomes more of a trend here.

2 day tickets is a good idea, tricky enough in terms of cost if you're not living/near the city its on. Accommodation prices would not be kind

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,099 ✭✭✭Fanirish

With venue availability it occasionally makes sense do 2 nights in a certain city. As with legacy acts with large fan base/back catalogue and especially die hards it makes sense to offer 2 day tickets. Means only 1/3 of the set will stay the same each night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,889 ✭✭✭fafy

Its €62 for 1 night ticket incl fees, and €103.40 for the 2 night ticket, incl fees, so a €20.60 discount

If Interpol are playing the Friday at Trinity where does that leave the rumoured Idles gig there? Summer Series now has acts from Monday to Sunday that week, can't imagine they'll add more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,099 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Both trinity and fairview extending to 8-10 shows in 2023

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭BruteStock

What's trinity like for a gig size wise?

Interpol would sell out a good chunk of the o2 I think. They've always sold out pretty fast in Dublin

Gabrielle will play 3Olympia Theatre, Dublin on 15 November 2023 and Leisureland, Galway on 17 November 2023.

OMD are always superb. I'd happily go to this just to see them, but that's a solid triple bill. I had a ticket for Soft Cell in the Olympia in 2002, but then a-ha announced a show in the Point on the same night, which I was more interested in. Then Soft Cell cancelled, so I was able to get a refund. Win all round.
