Change car now or wait until new year

I have a 2011 VW Golf TDI that is running fine and just got NCT until Jan 2024. Looking to change to a petrol VW Golf 2016-2017. Would it be worth my while holding off until January (bearing in mind my car will devalue too) or should I just go ahead and look at changing now? Thanks

certainly where I live (the nw) the garages tend to have low stock now and its the end of Jan before the trade ins roll in.

but if you find the car you want just trade it I guess.

I cannot see it making much of a difference. Used car prices are still inflated and the low number of new cars being available in January won't really change stock or prices of used ones. Less new cars sold = less used ones traded in = used prices stay high.

Will make no difference really. December is a very quiet month in the motor trade tho so its definitely not a bad time to buy if your looking for a good deal

Thanks for the feedback. Yep stock seems low everywhere at the moment but will keep an eye out
