Until you see it parked beside a CHR! It's significantly bigger

My BZ4X arrived in the dealership two weeks ago, since then i've had nothing but delayed tactics in releasing the vehicle - from not accepting docusign to the wet signature not been clear enough. Physically signed it yesterday and now i'm being told that the Irish Revenue system was updated over the weekend and they cannot register any bz4x as a result, I'm aware there is supposed to be an 11k swing in the price come the new year and am skeptika of these delays as they have to honor the previous price as I booked it in March. They still have my deposit but its delay after delay met with zero response when I look for an update. Is anyone aware of this issue with revenue?

Have also heard this, No EVs registered yesterday or today in Ireland due to this revenue issue.

You mean this is a wider issue with EVs and not specific to Toyota

Seen a white one yesterday.. god the front wheel arches are awful.. hard to describe.. maybe it would look ok in black.. but who designs these things? rest of the car looks absolutely fine..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 656 ✭✭✭Killer K

Yeah, it looks like a design that will take some getting used to. Agree that if I was going for it, I would be going for black. I suspect silver will be the most popular colour.

I wonder if that section of the wheel arches is a separate section that can be moved.

If so wrapping it might be an option?????.

Like some did with the 28 kwh Ioniq because they did like the grey grill section.

you could probably get it sprayed to colour match.. i've seen people do that before with wheel arches

God, everything possible is delaying this car for me. Any indication of when it will be resolved?

We often hear this when a new EV is released, one dealer will blame revenue meanwhile other people are collecting cars.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,596 ✭✭✭RedorDead

Correct. Still ongoing today but hoping for a fix today i hear.

In general whenever a new car is launched here first delays can occur with revenue. Revenue have upto 21 days to approve a new model declaration made by a distributor/manufacturer for a new model or indeed any time there is a change in specification, co2 or price. And being the public sector model of efficiency they are they generally take the 21 days too. Beyond frustrating. Declarations generally cannot be made either until a COC is issued which normally happening with shipping.

Indeed, but it's always funny how the dealers come up with a story of how it's a general revenue issue. The message that is given to the customer that no EVs can be sold at all due to an update when really, it's just the particular model waiting to be added. Something is clearly being lost in translation.

Have you heard if there was a resolution? Each delay has me more concerned as I'm putting more mileage on my car and conscious of them not honouring the initial trade in price.

I've seen two with reg plates on the road so it must be possible to register them?

People in Europe should be aware of the current developments. Now in Ireland, lots and lots of people are booking electric cars. This is going to affect used car sales, car workshops since electric cars have very little maintenance. with the current Ukraine inavasion, European countries are begging Gulf nations for energy. I need not explain what their bargain is. So as a result, govt is going to increase the lectricity rates in public charging stations and soon the cost will be equal to running hybrid cars. Since Toyota is the worlds largest automaker, when their electric car come to the streets, there will be an explosion. Those who know cars know well that with periodic service, a Toyota car will run for ever. None of its parts or features will get damaged as in other car brands. Thsi is the reason why they are delaying the things related with Bz4x. Even I am afraid, the car I booked on last June will arrive on next March. They said that it will be shipped from Japan this month. So good luck to all.

So as a result, govt is going to increase the lectricity rates in public charging stations

Would you have a link to back up that statement that the government will dictate the price energy providers can charge for electricity?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,891 ✭✭✭Old diesel

The point I would additionally make is that electricity costs being high is a disaster for everyone.

    Regardless of EVs.....

So even if every EV stopped being used in the morning then the issue needs fixing.

Realising that this issue impacts the local super valu your cousin works in.

Impacts the factory your brother manages that employs lots of people including a load of your local friends.*

Then it stops becoming a point your finger from a diesel going "ha ha your man in the Tesla over there is going to pay more" meme.

To a very serious issue that requires a fix.

*a good example in certain parts of North Cork and over the border in Kerry - is Munster Joinery. If you work in Munster Joinery its important that Munster Joinery is able to afford energy cost.

    Hi,

My car dealership has informed me that they are having difficulty registering my EV (Toyota BZ4X) with revenue and that they are being prevented from doing so. No clear indication on what the issue is though.

Anyone else experienced the same this week that may be able to shed more light?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,101 ✭✭✭✭ELM327

No, plenty of them registered already too.

Looks like the wheels are falling off at that dealership

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 MarkK1986

"Apparently" the issue only happened this week so some may have been registered beforehand. "Wheels falling off" is the right description though!

There's probably one person who has the account to register cars and they're on holiday

No EV's can be registered in the country at the moment, its all brands

It's a general issue that seems to be only reported by BZ4x purchasers? I suspect it's just a wait on the correct codes to be added for the model in the motor tax database.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 MarkK1986

Don't think thats the case unless the codes have changed from what they were - there are some BZ4x already on the roads

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 8,262 Mod ✭✭✭✭liamog

Until we get reports from other brands, I'm going to say the issue is between Toyota and Revenue, this happens on pretty much every new model release. Different options have a different code, so it could be as simple as the cars matching the demo models are registerable, but customer orders need to be added to the system.

I've had nothing but delay after delay, excuse after excuse with this dealership and they've had my deposit since March. I'm aware that the same cars have already been registered from this dealership too. The customer service from Toyota in general has been absolutely shocking since after the deposit was put down. Maybe it is revenues issue but at least some communication as to what's happening isn't too much to ask. Beyond frustrating at this point
