I think VW really need to address this issue

    Not good for business Volkswagen!!!

Likewise happened to me once or twice, although I don't think I've seen the dash display go blank

Fix for me was to exit and lock the car and let it shut down completely, the power button on the infotainment, or the "ignition" button didn't fix it

It would be good if VW would make a hard reboot by maybe holding down the ignition button for 20 seconds while stopped

The range reduction since the battery “upgrade” is really noticeable now to the point of making a complaint to VW

I guess there must still be a few glitches with the software 3.0 😂

I'm tempted to plug in to see what the car does

Range reduction is just the weather, surely?

The recent battery upgrade was to the 12V battery and that has no effect whatsoever on range.

What range reduction are you seeing? It is also possible you have a faulty battery of course as some ID's (3's and 4's) are experiencing some issues.

Yes it seems to have reduced the range by at least 70-80 km. My Driving has stayed the same and the cold wouldn't have that impact . Hopefully when we get the 3.0 update it might improve

Can't say I've noticed any decrease in range from the update, mostly down to using the heated seats and steering wheel

I've yet to see the battery heater come on, maybe it hasn't been cold enough

Cold absolutely would decrease the range that much. Mine running ~500km all summer, closer to 410/420 now. Same last year.

An 80% charge got me 323km this morning, usually would be close to 400km

I'm in the 200s at 80% these days. It's the weather

Winter vs summer could easily be 70km’s. Even more if it were particularly cold and wet with lots of surface water on the road and you driving at 100km/h+.

Sounds about right, are you doing a lot of short trips?

They're horrible for consumption even with the updates

I find it balances out reasonably well over a longer trip

There would be a few short trips a day yeah. But I remember back in January Feb and March during colder temperatures the range would be well close to 400kms on a 80% charge

I think your GOM was being overly optimistic before, 320km works out to around 19kWh/100km, which is about what I'm getting over a longer trip at the moment

Got mine in July 2021. It does a lot of short trips to school. Last winter was not this bad for range. Summer time I could get 520km now a full charge is 428km. Had no issues last winter dropped to 470km full charge

I've found this winter so far worse too. Reckon it's all the rain.

Same boat with range. Takes me exactly 6% range to get from work to home. It’s been that way like clockwork until November. Last week it was 10% to get home.

as you said it’s been very wet. My 100% is about 380km. Summer would could have been 480km

Hi! After purchasing We Connect Plus in the shop in the car, do you need to do anything with the app on the phone to get these extra features on your phone or is it still the existing WeConnect app?

If you're trying to get the location reporting working then I think you need to go into the user settings on the car and it's in there somewhere. Might be under connected services

Again, I think the GOM was wrong before and it's more accurate now

Have you driven the car to low battery at any point over the past year? That tends to make the GOM more accurate as it's got a more realistic picture of the battery capacity

I always look at consumption rather than the GOM when estimating range. You know the battery is 77kWh, so divide by the average consumption and that's your range

To get 520km you'd need to get less than 14kWh/100km, which is Ioniq territory. Personally I'm averaging around 18-20kWh/100km, which lines up to around 350-400km range

I used to hate that widely fluctuating GOM when I had my ID.3.

At least now you have the % battery shown on speedo screen? I think I would now only look at that and use 3km/% in winter and 4km/% in summer or whatever when estimating range..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 13,567 ✭✭✭✭the_amazing_raisin

Yeah having the percentage makes a big difference, and to be fair the last long trip I did the GOM was generally pretty accurate

But whatever they do in the factory seems to convince the car it can do WLTP range, which is a bit ambitious

Yes I get that and I the battery has gone down to 10%. I have been able to get consumption for summer time to 13.5kwh/100km. This winter it's very hard to get even close to 16 or 17 kwh/100 km more like 19kwh/100km. Last winter before any update it was easy get 16/17kwh/100k. That's the id4. The id3 is no better after the 2.4 update. Just seems to have lost a lot of range since the 2.4 update.

It hasn’t negatively changed the ID.3 for me.

If anything it’s better because the battery heater doesn’t come on now until it hits <0C, which means it hasn’t come on at all yet this winter.

Last year it would have been eating away at range at this stage, so something else is at play for you.

You must be driving very conservatively to get those consumption figures, any motorway at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 13,567 ✭✭✭✭the_amazing_raisin

Personally I struggle to get under 17 and I'm generally a fairly defensive driver

Unless there's some lads in a Polo with an exhaust kit who need to be taught a lesson, then it's pedal to the metal 😁

Yes I do plenty of motorway driving. East to the west every second week. But yes I don't be in any great rush, motorway would be about 100km per hour

Had issues with the charging speed last night on my home charger with the charge only being delivered at 4KW - I know a few people were talking about this previously and i think it maybe the same issue.

I'm on V3 & I put the car on to charge on the schedule (12-7) but was still up at 11p, so started manually it via the app and it started but only delivered 4KW.. I was reading that it could be a bug when the car is in a sleep mode so it reduces the charging current but was thinking it would 'wake up' on the schedule time but this didn't happen and got 4KW all night. I have the VW charger and never had any issues with my ID3 with the charging speed so know the charger is 100%. working.

I'm going for a long drive today so will leave it for the scheduler tonight and see what i get..
