So my first question for you all.

VW nearly named one of there cars the Pony.

The VW Pony can you imagine it no me either lol. It just does not work. Anyway Hyundai got the rights to use the Pony name first so VW named there car something else

Can anyone name which VW model it was?

Whoever gets it starts the next question.

One other fascinating detail from Giugiaro, now a sprightly 84 years of age, is that VW originally planned to call the Mk1 Golf the Volkswagen Pony but lost out when Hyundai nabbed the moniker by launching first.

Excellent. To be fair that was a guess rather than one I knew.

A fairly easy one - that could probably be googled but try get it without. Everyone loves a large displacement engine and we've seen plenty of v8, v10, w12 and v12 petrol engines. We've also seen v8 and v10 diesels.

However, what car was the first production car with a v12 diesel engine?

I don't know much about them other than a bit on a car show (Top Gear?) when they first came out, and the list of requirements it had to have from the VW boss at the time, and 1 requirement was to be able to drive for 10 hours straight at 190mph or something...

Yes, well done if not googled. One of my favorite car engine combos of all time. Just because it is ridiculous and makes no sense. While a v8 diesel may make sense due to the inherent torque of a v8, a v12 has little to no low down torque and therefore as a diesel one of two main advantages are lost.

Umm my fog lights come on when I put it in reverse, maybe Land Rover, aren’t front and rear parking/indicator lights the same front and back on the old stuff?
