Broken downpipe

Slide a flat piece of tin under pipe at break, a biscuit tin lid with the lips cut off should do. Cut pipe with angle grinder at highest point of damage, tin will protect wall when cutting. Remove the bottom bracket and remove bottom section of down pipe. Fit down pipe connector on, a lick of glue would be bonus but not required. Fit lower piece of pipe on to connector, re fit pipe with bracket - job done. Downpipe may be a little shorter than previous but should not be an issue.

Don’t forget, female up, male down.

As downpipe is fitted tight to the wall it would be almost impossible to cut it with a handsaw without damaging the wall on both sides and of course damaging the saw itself, whereas cutting gently with an angle grinder is much neater and quicker.
