Has anyone received quotes per sq foot/metre for new a new build recently?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has recently received quotes from construction companies on the rough cost per sq foot/meter for a new build? Interested to see where the prices are at now

Varies massively. 120 to 160/ sq foot. Keep pricing around.

Hi all, we’re looking to build on a country site in Co Clare and based on the contractors quotes we were in the range of 220 to 240 per sq ft. That’s walk-in and low to middle spec post builders finish. Quotes are also about 4 months old. Now looking to go self build with a PM and seems to be coming in significantly cheaper.

4 months is an eternity in todays rapidly changing environment. You would be looking at more like 1,500/sq meter now in mid West based on what I'm hearing now, material and labour costs have come down a lot from the peak in mid 2022.

Thats what I was hoping to hear. Hoping to make a start into a new build spring next year so the more these prices drop the better.

Not very I reckon. 40% cheaper in 4 months. Nice one if so, build 2.

Work is starting to slow down for sure from talking to my contacts. But it could be spring/summer 23 before the market really sees that knock on.

Chap i know was qouted 432,000 for 240sqm in south Meath recently.

Ive told him to either wait or build a smaller house. To be fair its a crazy size if a house for 4 people anyway.

That’s not a bad price in fairness! 1800 a metre? Is that builder's finish? Garage etc?

Yeah fair enough. You’re right on the size of it. Why people think they need 2 living rooms, snugs and a WIW in every bedroom beats me. Adds up to some bill by the time it’s all finished.

That’s a 600k house easily at that rate.
