Missing planning permission - advice needed

Hello, five months ago I agreed to purchase an apartment in Dublin but now it seems to hit a deadlock: the vendors solicitors are not able to provide some planning permission documents that my solicitor insists on acquiring... The outstanding documents seem to be about the entire development (not for the specific unit). It's quite a large building with around 40 units and I know there are transactions going-on all the time, so if there was really a lack of planning permission, it would have affected all the units.

I wonder if someone has met or heard a similar situation before. What would be your advice? Should I pull out from the purchase? Many thanks in advance.

Your solicitor should have explained the issue in detail to you and given you the options i.e. proceed with the known risk or quit the deal

I had similar for me, there was an issue, not with planning, but something else that affected the development. Solicitor laid it all out for me and how things would affect me in years to come if it couldn't be resolved. I went ahead with the deal

If you’re buying with a mortgage, there’s no way that your solicitor will complete the purchase without planning permission.

I don't know exactly but they are specific planning permissions with numbers like 90xxx or 48xx/0x. My solicitor did receive some other planning permissions, but after reviewing them, he identified more to request.

They sound like the reference numbers for applications.

They could be looking for compliance certs.

Honestly it sounds like you need to give your solicitor a call to try understand whats going on. Before you decide anything, you need to understand the whole situation and I don't see how you can with the limited info you seem to have.
