Farmers with land adjacent to towns, villages and cities need to check if they could be liable to a new land tax in the new year. If you own such land there's only a few weeks to lodge an appeal. It can be checked on your local coco website, look for the development plan. IFA are working on it also

Looks like it's going to be 3% of the value. Looking at some of the land near here and a single field could be in 3 different zones, agricultural, residential and village centre. A developer won't want to buy ag zoned land and a farmer won't want to be farming beside a new housing estate.
