Probably. Who do they think they are, causing disruption for the adults. You'd swear it was for them 😄

Would that be ok for a teenager though? Genuine is too expensive.

This was sent to me on the 2nd November. Was in portlaoise tesco

    Screenshot_20221104_202441_com.whatsapp.jpg

Was only 1 apparently. But funny enough I was staying in a hotel there yesterday and I went in. None there at all. I went in 15 mins later as I forgot to grab something. Someone in the self service q had 2 of them. I say some staff member had kept them away for him as I looked around just on the off chance they were in store and saw none of them.

It's a very good price but the rrp is not €255, it's usually €160 (although frequently on sale for €130 on Smyths). Great price nonetheless! Have the set myself and it was a really enjoyable build and is a great display piece.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,514 ✭✭✭RGARDINR

Yeah your 100% right about the price. Great set to have my daughter has it as well. But I would of liked to have gorren it myself for that price. Pops up on adverts for 90 sometimes I might grab it for myself for that as it is a great display set for sure.

It could be seized by customs and destroyed. So don't risk it.

Started working on my Christmas display. Have a few more sets to set up including the elf club house, Santa's sleigh, Santa's yard and 31080. I have the shrieking shack on the shelf above at the moment. Also considering getting the winter village high street. Does anyone else set up for Christmas?

Looks cool that now. I don't set anything like that for Xmas. Do you have any of the white base plates that you could use for it? Got the few bits there yesterday in Disney land Paris. Nothing mad caught my eye was more to get my VIP points up to the 50 euro mark now which I did with the purchase below.

I am looking at ISS set for Christmas (once I convince the wife) but it says retiring soon on the lego website, how long have i before it disappears?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,514 ✭✭✭RGARDINR

I think usually means end of December but it can sell out before hand once they get through their stock that they have left. If I were you just buy it when you can afford it if there is a GWP for price point or I think not this wkend but the following 1 there is double VIP points then.

It's 60 euro in Argos so I'll pick it up there.

Looking good. I've going to start setting mine up soon. I've got the Harry Potter set and the blue house you have there in yours, plus I'm going to stick in the Hogwarts Express, with tracks, and this year's Christmas set (the shops and tram one). I might even stick in the Sesame Street set, and add in the Muppet collectible figures, then customize it a bit to make it more Christmassy. I'll stick up some photos when done.

I know it went down to 48 euro about 2 mths back in argos. Possible it might go down again near black Friday but then I suppose it could easily go back full price.

Just the house on the left (rigged up with a €2-shop battery LED Christmas light set) and the Charles Dickens Christmas Carol set we got as GWP a couple of years ago...

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

I hope you fare better than me! I ordered a load of sets off them end of September. Massively delayed along the way and no information from them as to why no matter how many times I asked.

Then they finally turn up in Ireland last week and An Post want me to pay customs fees which game of bricks insist is a mistake since they apparently already paid it for me.

Now I can't get an answer to my email to An Post I querying the charges and if I'd don't pay them in the next two weeks the kits will be sent back to China!

Asked game of bricks can they just refund me the vat I paid them so I can pay an post and they said no. If it turns out I'm being charged cos they messed up the labelling or something I'm going to be very angry! They've also charged to wrong vat rate and told me I was wrong when I told them it was 23% here not 21% so even the vat I did pay is not correct!

Hmmm that's really irritating sorry to hear. They arrived on Friday after about two and a half weeks. I did get charged customs but it was only €6.34 on a purchase of around $164 order so not too bad here.

Wow that was fast! Mine is two packages worth a similar amount in total but an post want me to pay 26 quid.

Not too much but it's the principle of it cos I asked game bricks before I ordered and they insisted there'd be no further charges. They tell me none of their EU customers have to pay import fees yet here's the two of us having to do exactly that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,666 ✭✭✭davetherave

That does seem very odd. They are deducting vat at 21% not 23% but it could just be they, or whatever backend system they are using hasn't updated since we went back to 23%. Changing shipping address to Luxemburg does change the vat to 17% which is right.

They do have an IOSS number listed on their website and a valid EU/Estonia vat number. It could be a case that they didn't include the IOSS number in the electronic declaration?

No idea what's gone on and they aren't being very helpful about it. Offering me a 30 quid voucher but I won't be buying anything else after this. They say the charges on my end are impossible because they've already paid the vat so I got quite annoyed at that since the intimation is that I'm making it up about being charged the vat here too.

My total package costs are 82.38 yet I have to pay 26 quid when Marc had to pay under 7 for stuff costing almost twice as much! Seems An post are just plucking figures out of the sky!

EDIT: scratch that, I paid game of bricks $180 but An Post says its value is €82.38

I'll have to pay it soon since An post can't be bothered to answer their email about it either but when I get the package all I can do is see if they put their IOSS number on it clearly since I can't check their electronic declaration.

You reminded me. Must get my sets out this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,778 ✭✭✭DaveNoCheese

There's no customs duty applicable if the value of the goods + shipping is less than €150. What you've been charged is most likely VAT + an post fees.

23% of €82 is roughly €19 so their fees must be the balance.

I might pick up the NASA Apollo saturn 5 space rocket before it retires.

Yeah its vat and their fees I'm being charged but I already paid vat so it shouldn't be happening. Either game of bricks made a mistake with their packaging or declarations or An post have.
