    Walker is the perfect Republican.

He says one thing while doing the exact opposite.

According to a poll run by conservative WSJ wow then

    It's embarrassing.

The irony is that actual National Socialists support political violence.

But as I say, the more that Republicans are hysterically smeared as the Nazi Party, the more this will translate into votes for Republicans. Normal people aren't stupid, and won't have the wool pulled over their eyes by this kind of mindless rhetoric.

Let them keep saying it. It's only helping Republicans.

This is beginning to look like a foregone conclusion:

    image_2022-11-08_134912927.png

The people throwing around smears like Nazi Party and focussing on irrelevant Woke-related matters can thank themselves for directly leading to this result - and presumably greater support for Donald Trump going forward, too.

Eh, The people who talk about gender and pronouns etc are mostly people on far right media who seem obsessed by pronouns and the 'culture wars'

Most other people seriously don't give a shite about what pronouns anyone use

What people DO care about, are the rights that the GOP are taking away from them. The right to abortion, the right to contraception is under threat, the right to marry whoever you like, the right to join a Union, the right to vote, the right to a fair trial, the right to free speech (Ironically, the free speech warriors don't seem to mind when books are banned and teachers are being forced to not mention race or gender when educating children)

And that brings us back to the education gag orders. According to the PEN America database, more than 100 pending state bills would limit or constrain free speech in public education. The bulk of these bills attempt to regulate speech regarding race. Framed as “anti–critical race theory” bills, they typically purport to ban the instruction or inclusion of certain “divisive concepts” in public-school classrooms, in college classrooms, and sometimes in public employment or government contracting. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/04/republican-dont-say-gay-bill-florida/629516/

The right to freedom from religion is a massive concern to many people in America now where the ultra conservative supreme court are pairing up with ultra conservative state legislatures. governorships and courts, while Congress and Senate are being kneecapped by silly rules like the Filibuster, and supermajority requirements for any meaningful change

In an America where the Dems win this election, it's more of the same with some slight changes around the edges

In an election where the Republicans win control, we're looking at the rapid rollback of rights and freedoms and as some of the candidates have openly said, the end of the 2 party system to be replaced with a pseudo democracy where the GOP have everything rigged so heavily in their favour that they'll never lose an election again.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Rural New England is a very wealthy and 'liberal' part of America.

Have you much experience of some of the less progressive parts of America?

This poll contradicts the first WSJ article that suggested the republicans have more black/Latino support than democrats. They do not, democrats have more support.

The sad thing is if Democrats had of just concentrated on policy and improving the lives of ordinary Americans instead of spending the last 2 years calling anyone who didn't vote for them racist they could have actually done that. Now they face into 2 more years of a lame duck presidential term with a guy who looks increasingly frail and open to massive gaffs when he's actually in the public eye.

Hiding him away these last couple of years has backfired massively especially as the press now have his number and are starting to be allowed ask the obvious questions about his capacity to get the job done. Trump as bad as he was and by jesus was he bad was up there standing in front of the press core day after day responding to questions about his inability to govern but at least he was there. American's for all their faults can't abide a coward and that's exactly what Biden has been.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,374 ✭✭✭joseywhales

He was such a coward that he served in office for 50 years and ran for president in his late 70s, I don't know many people with bigger balls honestly, is be retired at 50.

I think people get too hung up on who the president is to be honest, they have great executive power but they are definitely kept in check. And people blame every issue on politicians from economics to pandemics to every social issue, there doesn't even exist a theoretical human that could satisfy the electorate.

Nonsense. Trump spent more time in Mar-a-largo than in front of the the press core. And if he didn't like the question, then the question or reporter were stupid. He's destroying open debate and the democratic process in America.

Well he were back but the signs particularly offensive to being within 500 ft of a midterm polling place were self censored. (Up front)

""Look at the border. Do you know we’ve had 3.8 million illegal immigrants cross that border, 800,000 more got-aways, 4.5 million people broke the law and came here illegally?" Haley told a crowd of Walker supporters. "And Biden and Warnock helped them do it. Now, I am the daughter of Indian immigrants. They came here legally, they put in the time, they put in the price, they are offended by what’s happening on that border. Legal immigrants are more patriotic than the leftists these days. They knew they worked to come into America, and they love America. They want the laws followed in America, so the only person we need to make sure we deport is Warnock."

Full quote. She was making a point about illegal immigration. I mean, it was stupid to talk about deporting an American citizen, but racist?

How many white people she talk about reporting just asking.

Dont be coy. The base thinks nothing of the cognitive dissonance of supporting walker and Othering people of color.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,683 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

Right wing ecosystem already laying track to say the election was stolen if they can’t hand count etc 200 million ballots in 8 hours. 🤥 Some red states have laws that you cannot even begin counting early votes until 1) the polls today close and 2) all in person votes are counted.

How many white people was she campaigning against? She is Indian american herself but ok, she wants to deport non white people.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,683 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

If you don’t get it you don’t get it. Calling for his deportation was red meat for the racist base.

Being reported that some states are talking about record turnouts. Generally this works well for democrats but how will it play out?

They've no need to do that.

The polls are clear; the Republicans are in for a landslide victory.

Was the poster not referring to the 2020 election? A worryingly large amount of Reps believe that the election was stolen...they still believe that, with no evidence.

    We can't deny evidence.

Furthermore, it's worth noting that Joe Biden has the lowest ever approval rating (40%) of a US President going into the midterms - even lower than Donald Trump.

Whatever way you cut it, this is NOT going to be a good night for the Democrats.

I for one am quite pleased about that.

Can’t imagine why; you don’t even go here.

Believe the polls, but not the result because it didn't go their way...makes sense.

Mad that almost 2 years later, they are still peddling that kind of garbage.

The media are already warning about it taking days to count votes, which of course will only happen in key states. They are warning too about a "red mirage", which is what we saw the last time around; Republicans leading early, which then suddenly flips and goes the other way over night. It's a new phenomenon apparently and nothing worth wondering about, but I wouldn't be so confident about an overall win.

Hold on, what evidence are you referring to here?

Latest betting odds; Biden having the lowest approval score on record heading into the midterms; and inflation / the state of the US economy.
