A Board Level decision was taken to give Duffus the day off, as he can't control hisself in relation to the Brits, Poppies, WWI, the Legion and it just isn't worth the law suits.

Where he covering this story about the vandalism of the British Legion's Dublin office, the average cawlur would be suffering with shell shock.

There's potential for at least bronze with the topic but not with cool headed Katie at the helm. Only Joe could spin it up from straw into bronze with his ignorance.

You are a Brit if you grew up in Britain. After all we call our new immigrants Irish whether or not they have any Irish genes.

Bit late....this seems like a really current issue...someones dad traumatised by war...

Ahhh it's this poppy watch nonsense....embarrassing.

It is freedom of choice if you want to wear one or not believe it or not. I am guessing this is coming up because Paul Mescal (along with a couple of other guests..but no mention of them) didn't wear one on Graham Norton.

    not this poppycock again. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 951 ✭✭✭orourkeda1

The problem I have with James McClean is not that he chooses not to wear the poppy, it's how he chooses to express himself.

Other players have chosen not to wear the poppy and they never arouse the same reaction.

    Why?

Why should Irish people be shamed for not wanting to wear a poppy? Given Ireland's history with the British army etc?!

Would he support the poppy being extended to represent Russian soldiers killed invading Ukraine?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 951 ✭✭✭orourkeda1

They shouldn't be. However. as I've said earlier the problem for me is not with James McClean not wearing the poppy. The way he expresses it does him no favours.
