Exactly this. He moved his market manipulation to the crypto market where it's unregulated. I doubt he has any real understanding of how blockchains work, how web3 will move forward or the potentials the technology has beyond speculative finance.

Tesla, under his direction, bought a large amount of bitcoin. Then he hyped it and said Tesla would accept it as payment pumping the price. They sold 10% of their holding to "test liquidity" and then pulled the rug, burning many of his advocates in the process. But that doesn't matter betelcause their quarterly earnings were great thanks to "digital asset sales" where they would otherwise be in the red. Then he's gone for the occasional Doge pumps.

This is the type of shithousery that leaves him deserving to be in the current mess. He's got an army of supporters online yet he'd fleece every single one of them for everything they've got. Unreal.

    Christ.

Nothing worse than the worst twitter accounts being forced on you in threads here.

    "Live and let live"

    Sure..

I can't believe that this is still going 😂

People are honestly arguing that someone who commits a crime isn't a criminal. Is this progress? Is this what we've been working towards? People literally playing the fool to defend the indefensible.

    Criminal:

    1. a person who has committed a crime.
    2. "these men are dangerous criminals"

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

They've lost on the free speech argument and all the other unsubstantiated smears and borderline conspiracy theories against Elon Musk - about how he's about to do something (removing all moderation) for which there isn't a shred of evidence.

All they're left with now is defending a scumbag rioter - a man who has openly admitted to engaging in the destruction of Portland.

"People literally playing the fool to defend the indefensible."

That's what both "sides" do all day long. No nuance. Defend your position.

Elon fan boy will say everything he does is great. Anti Elon crowd will criticise everything he does. Regardless of what either really thinks.

As one great president once said, SAD

Portland of all places too, a bastion of progressivism. They are truly rebels without a cause, which is all well and good when you're a teen, but most of these types are in their 30's and 40's.

Very vague. “Both sides”. There’s no sides.

What’s your thoughts on what that Twitter employee claimed to do? You don’t have to answer by the way. Feel free to tell me you’re not going to answer. Might save a few posts.

If someone commits a crime they’re a criminal. There’s nothing else to it. Court has nothing to do with it. You know that.

What if someone commits a horrible crime and gets off on a technicality? Do you think they’re not criminals?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,876 ✭✭✭bokale

    What was the claim?

Oh there is sides my dude. You'll start to see it and then they are all over every thread.

There’s no sides. That way of thinking is bizarre. For every topic theres your own independent opinion.

All these lunatics you think are on your side in this thread will stamp your head into the ground the moment you don’t agree with them.

At the risk of repeating myself, it doesn't matter what I think.

If they get off on a technicality they are innocent in the eyes of the law. This is basic legal stuff taught to 1st years studying law

Twitter is a private company, it can do what it wants!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,876 ✭✭✭bokale

I'm not on any side my man. They dont like that.

    What was your question exactly?

This is just playing with words, a deliberate distraction away from the substance of this thread.

If the man participated in the riot, he's a scumbag. If he didn't, he's a liar who wishes he was the scumbag.

So either way, this is a particularly horrible person to be defending.

    I'll leave it there.

I don't particularly like or trust Elon Musk, I've said it already. People can be defended on the grounds of the truth and sound reason, and not rabid support. The only thing I share with Musk are his enemies, but I'm not a believer in the concept of the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Most of us are just here for the circus, to watch the usual hysterics that are on display, from people who fear they may be losing some control, something that they've gotten very used to having.

Can a private company break the speed limit and not be considered a criminal

For someone who is rather precise on words and meaning I find this rather amusing. I merely pointed out what a criminal is under a legal definition.

Once again it doesn't matter what I think. The arbitration of the court after a trial is all that counts legally. Basic stuff, let me leave it here as you obviously do not understand how the law works

LOL! He thinks he swerved the point and nobody noticed!

What's this about someone committing a crime? The tread is getting long and I've clearly missed a post somewhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,872 ✭✭✭✭Timberrrrrrrr

"What do you think of what that particular Twitter employee claimed to do? You ok with rioting and assaulting cops?"

I've asked several times for someone to post what he said and I'm still waiting, at this stage we only have allegations of what he said.

You're the one who brought in the legal definition, and are now holding it against the people using the general definition. You've essentially shifted the goal posts, and claimed victory.

Someone said they were in a riot and people in this thread care for some reason. Unless it was Musk himself in the riot this feels wildly off topic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,228 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Not surprising. It was one posters inability to stay on topic that killed the GBNews thread. Naturally they now want this thread driven to the same end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,841 ✭✭✭TomTomTim

What? The whole dragged out definition game started with Timber, yet now the other side are being accused of starting it? There's only one group notorious for shutting down threads. They used to regularly go crying in feedback with the goal of getting any discussion that they didn't like shut down. It's beyond audacious to accuse the other side of just hat.

Best to ignore certain posters who are looking to drag the thread off topic and bring you down as well.

Back on topic looks like he might challange YouTube and provide more share of ad revenue to creators
