First details have dropped - no issue with the casting descriptions but going straight into our modern setting (even though I'm sure flashbacks will play a huge part), and shoehorning the Pandemic into it no less, doesn't fill me with confidence.

Stinks of a service not confident in the source.

We have our Lestat.

On the surface my feeling is no, this is what a casting from the CW doing Anne Rice would feel like.

But having googled him I found a production called 'Belle' which helped me see him as Lestat but still, that was 8 years ago.

Is there anyone watching Interview with the Vampire? As a book fan I'm enjoying certain aspects of the show, Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson are so well cast for example and are the back bone of the show.

But the more it has diverged from the material the more I think it's faltering. Claudia's arc has been so disappointing to the point that it's bringing down everything else around her.

I'm watching and really enjoying it. While the early episodes were especially good I wouldn't say Claudia's brought down anything, she's obviously changed the dynamics we were enjoying between Louis and Lestat but that's the nature of the story and having a child.

Claudia being the child papering over the cracks is true to the books but without going into spoilers of the books or 1994 film, they've made certain choices that makes the big moment coming so much more easier to digest for the wider audience.
