I got a letter from NPWS stating that the area I currently shoot on the River Suir has now been excluded. I cannot get a answer as to why this has happened .

Is it because of bird population decline or is it due to avian 'flu?

I think it's because of the location of the Greenways. It says on the letter that you can contact Niall Feery in the wildlife licencing unit.

From what I’ve heard so take with a grain of salt as I’ve no link to back it up, allegedly changed foreshore area protections during covid my guess is it’s only been enacted now. As previous poster said greenways being 1 thing but also amount of people now using foreshores for leisure activities has increase dramatically that NPWS don’t want anyone with a gun mixed in with civilians having a Sunday swim or out fishing etc. Can defo see the common sense reasoning as covid has dramatically forced people from the pub to the outdoors. Deer stalkers have said same about the huge amounts of forestry walkers now.
