The hotly-anticipated Death in Paradise spin-off series Beyond Paradise has added three stars to the cast.

Filming on the series has started in South West England this week, with Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton joined by former EastEnders star Zahra Ahmadi, Derry Girls' Dylan Llewellyn, and Bridget Jones's Diary actress Felicity Montagu.

Ahmadi, known for her Albert Square role as Shabnam Masood, joins after previously featuring in a 2018 episode of Death in Paradise. She will play a different character, DS Esther Williams.

Llewellyn has been cast as PC Kelby Hartford. He previously played Jono in Hollyoaks before starring as James in Channel 4's Derry Girls, which came to an end earlier this year.

Finally, Montagu will portray office support civilian Margo Martins.

Beyond Paradise reunites Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton after the two collaborated on Death in Paradise. Humphrey was last seen leaving the isle of Saint Marie to pursue Martha and family life back in the UK, and this spin-off series will explore that as the new couple navigates life in rural Britain.

That peaceful life is interrupted as crimes begin to crop up and Humphrey realises the town has a surprisingly high crime rate. Each week, a new case will challenge him and his team.

"It's exactly what you hope for in terms of if you're a fan of Death in Paradise," Marshall recently teased. "Obviously it's not in the Caribbean, but it's in its own paradise. It's got its own new twist on it."

The spin-off doesn't have a release date yet

Sutter's first show for Netflix after jumping from FX.

    The Abandons

Kurt Sutter’s Western ‘The Abandons’ Rustles Up Series Order At Netflix

The series, which will see Sutter serve as showrunner and exec producer via his SutterInk banner, is set in the Old West.

It follows a group of diverse, outlier families pursuing their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon when a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out.

These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, “justice” is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law. The Abandons will explore that fine line between survival and law, the consequences of violence, and the corrosive power of secrets, as this family fights to keep their land.

It marks Sutter’s second project at Netflix after he left his longtime home FX – he also has feature film This Beast, about a trapper’s battle with an elusive beast that is ravaging an 18th century English village.

Sutter told Deadline last November that he always wanted to do a western even before Sons of Anarchy or HBO’s Deadwood.

“There’s that great lore of Ian Anderson wanting to be a great rock guitarist, and he saw Clapton play, and he said, ‘F*ck, I’m going to become the best rock flautist that ever lived.’ And he did just that for Jethro Tull. This is how I felt when I saw Deadwood. I said, ‘Let me stick to the crime genre” and then used just about every actor that was on that show. But I do love the genre, and over the pandemic, I tried to get a western IP.”

It’s being billed as “a charming, intimate, funny, and realistic depiction of modern-day Dubliners, living, loving, grieving, and fighting back.”

For Jones, who also plays the lead role of Lloyd, the series marks his first written for TV, having been adapted from his award-winning play of the same name. 'Boiling Point' is to be made into a TV series:

Boiling PointPhilip Barantini’s hit British indie one-shot film starring Stephen Graham, is to be made into a BBC TV series charting events six months after the movie took place.

Graham and co-star Hannah Walters’ Matriarch Productions is behind the five-part sequel about the cut-throat world of high-end restaurants alongside Ascendant Fox with Barantini’s Made Up Productions and filming will begin early next year. The project is Made Up’s debut TV series.

Picking up six months from where the film ended, when Graham’s character Andy was lying crumpled on the floor having collapsed, the series will follow Andy’s former Sous Chef Carly (Vinette Robinson) as Head Chef at her own restaurant. Graham and Walters will reprize their roles as Andy and Emily and will also exec produce the show.

Graham and Walters said Boiling Point for TV will no longer be one-shot but still feature “extraordinarily lengthy shots and camera techniques that will complement the pure naturalism that was the essence and soul of the film.”

Really like the energy of the first one and I thought Graham (as normal) was fantastic but that Robinson pretty much matched him so interested to see where they they go with this.

    The Bad News Bears

‘The Bad News Bears’ Comedy With Female Lead In Works At CBS

A beloved title from Paramount’s movie library is eying a TV comeback. CBS is developing The Bad News Bears, a single-camera comedy based on the 1976 movie which starred Walter Matthau as an alcoholic ex-baseball pitcher who becomes a coach for a youth baseball team of misfit players.

Written by Corey Nickerson (black-ish), the new TV take, from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and Wendi Trilling’s TrillTV, is rebooting the original premise. In the CBS version, a down-on-her-luck divorced mom coaches a team of misfits in a cutthroat Little League.

The project will weave in personal experiences from Nickerson who coached her son’s baseball team. She executive produces with Kaplan and Melanie Frankel from Kapital and Trilling via TrillTV. Kevin Marco oversees for Kapital.

CBS Studios, where Nickerson has been under an overall deal, is the studio. This marks the latest collaboration between units from the two sides of the merged Paramount Global.

The original The Bad News Bears movie, directed by Michael Ritchie and written by Bill Lancaster, was followed by two sequels, the 1978 The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training and 1979 The Bad News Bears Go To Japan. There was also a 2005 remake directed by and starring Billy Bob Thornton.

This would be the second Bad News Bears TV series; a sitcom based on the original movie aired on CBS for two seasons from 1979-80, with Jack Warden as the coach.

Kapital has been interested in the arena and previously produced Cullen brothers’ 2013 single-camera ABC comedy series Back In the Game, which starred Maggie Lawson as a divorced mom who coaches son’s team of athletic misfits with help from her loutish ex-minor league manager dad, played by James Caan.......

Greg Berlanti’s ‘Green Lantern’ HBO Max Series Being Redeveloped

HBO max's long-gestating Green Lantern TV series is changing gears.

The drama, which has been in the works since late 2019, will now focus on John Stewart, one of DC’s first Black superheroes. The series, from exec producer Greg Berlanti, was to originally have revolved around Guy Gardner and Alan Scott and had already cast Finn Wittrock (Ratched) and Jeremy Irvine (Treadstone) as the respective Green Lanterns.

As part of the creative overhaul, writer and showrunner Seth Grahame-Smith has departed the series after completing scripts for a full season of eight episodes. Sources say Grahame-Smith, who signed on as writer and showrunner a year after Green Lantern was announced, chose to leave the project after weathering a number of regime changes at HBO Max, its parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, producers Warner Bros. Television, and now DC Comics.

The Witcher” has been renewed for a fourth season by Netflix, though the hit fantasy series will be missing one familiar face. Henry Cavill will exit the production after the upcoming third season debuts, with Liam Hemsworth set to take over the lead role of Geralt of Rivia.

The streamer announced the renewal and casting news on Saturday afternoon, with both Hemsworth and Cavill also releasing statements. Reading into the tone of both statements, the decision seems to be an amicable passing of the torch.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill said in a statement on Instagram. “In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
