Hopefully something up near Sligo or near the North West , that would be great news and help close another gap in the network.

I assume the ID4 port is locked and one can't simply remove the cable, even the lazy way they coiled the cable is annoying

Jesus, how long were those cars there for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,105 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

They can't be that stupid that they don't know it doesn't charge their cars. Or can they?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,199 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

Hopefully the hotel clamp them…. And it’ll be another 2 drivers educated…

Usually the SuC are placed well away from main entrance, these ones are close so it's case of lazy people, they know full well they cannot charge at a SuC

Have to say I'm not a fan of these 4 bay SuC in cities.

Agree, but I'll take it, and this will now open up the entire NE of the country to us without fear of the dreaded NI charging wilderness....

Must be one of the few Ariya's out in the wild at the moment

It’ll be interesting to see the lag between install and commissioning. Can the NIE arm of ESB perform any better than the ESBN arm?

How long is Athenry open now?

Do we think the additional 4 stalls will be operational by the end of 2023? I wouldn't be very optimistic on a 2023 opening.....

I see Polestar have a test drive event at the Raheen woods until this Sunday.

why would they have this in Athenry I wonder ….

Wonder where they're charging it 🤔

I saw a post about supercharger location voting. I didn't know the system exists. It seems you have 5 votes per Q for proposed locations and you can also propose locations.

Our proposed locations are below 50th in Europe, so long waiting. Maybe there are people like me who didn't know and want to vote?

What a bizarre approach to planning. I wonder how much impact it has in reality?

But yes, I voted for Cavan :)

Can we just get superchargers at Carlow or Paulstown on the M9 and be done with it!

why Tesla are not listening to this I do not know as the M9 is pretty much devoid of chargers so you would think they would see this as an opportunity but it seems they want to put more in along other routes instead that already have superchargers and lots of other charging infrastructure!?!

They want to gauge the interest. Most likely not taking their decision solely on voting but it may count for a bit. I imagine the scenario where European station compete on themselves then where are more proposals for a country as well. Bolzano is in first place in Europe and not far off from another two locations. We'll see if it actually happens and the time scale.

Did you propose it? I'm going to do it again nothing to loose.

it seems they want to put more in along other routes instead that already have superchargers

The newly announced sites in Castlebellingham North & Cashel are most likely because the existing site leases will not be renewed and Tesla need alternate sites asap (and we all know how long it takes from conception to going live).

AppleGreen & Circle K are doing their own thing now and will not want any competition on their forecourts.

The days of Tesla Superchargers being installed at motorway/online services in Ireland are over. Just look at the last 4 SuC sites opened... Main Dealer showroom, Hotel, Hotel, Retail Park...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,199 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

I just suggested Waterford Retail Park as a potential future location for a SuC... (and as per my post above.. if you are suggesting anything other than hotels/retail parks, you are wasting your time as those are the locations Tesla can operate in these days)

Close to N25 & M9, plenty of spaces, Power shouldn't be an issue, retail park (Costa Coffee onsite),

    Voted, thanks for the suggestion.

When it comes to suggestions, we're limited by what's popping up in the auto-fill box. For example I was going to suggest the Bray Retail Park on the Southern Cross road (a minute off the N11.... unless it's rush hour or prime weekend time, costa coffee, plenty of unused parking spaces, I assume adequate grid connections), but as "Bray Retail Park" didn't appear in the auto-fill box I've no idea what they'll make of my suggestion (defaulted to the Southern Cross Road).

Anyway, more suggestions the better, any & all chargers are welcome

It was the same for me at the Waterford Retail Park, so I just put in the street address and would hope Tesla put 2 + 2 together and figure out I mean the retail park...

The north-west is a gaping hole that badly needs a supercharger.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,390 ✭✭✭MightyMunster

That's where the two for voting on are located, Cavan and Derry.

I put in Sligo as it would be a great spot for me for spins to Donegal, would help open up the NW.

Cavan would be nice too ofc.
