Real Irish Breakfast?

Controversial! Surely the "basics" - the absolute minimum - are sausage, rasher, egg, toast and tea or coffee. Ideally, you'll be getting black and/or white pudding, too. Tomato is optional. Mushrooms are optional. Hash browns aren't traditional but are welcome. Never seen one served with onions! Beans - if you really, really must, but they have to be in a ramekin and not touching anything else!

Soda bread, potato farls/cakes and other types of cooked/fried bread are all 'Ulster Fry' territory, which is not 'Full Irish'.

The study found that eating a bigger breakfast is beneficial, but they don't mention if they recommended any particular foods.

It's the author who keeps saying it's healthy to eat a fry. That's actually pretty bad journalism, a lot of folks might take it at face value and think they're eating their way to success, when in reality they're eating their way to an early grave 😱

Unfortunately the current advice is to avoid those heavily processed meats like sausages and bacon as much as possible. Maybe when all this gene modification becomes normal we'll be able to eat whatever we want, but for now we'll have to stick with the limits imposed by mother nature 😭

Still, I actually prefer a fry as a once a week treat, makes it a nice bonus. I think I'd get fed up eating it every day
