They've been played off the park against the three big teams they've played so far, Chelsea (who by all accounts aren't great themselves this year), Arsenal and now United. Their style is absolutely rancid viewing too, boring, slow turgid football relying on a Kane dive (see Everton) or a counter attack because they can't break teams down.

Conte implosion could happen if he doesn't get another 100 mill chucked to him in January....

For whatever reason (maybe I am been punished for sins in a past life) but the live games I got a chance to look at this season all seem to involve Spurs and it has to be worst football from a so called top side I ever remember watching!

What do United fans think of Sancho

Watched the second half of the game last night & united played very well but again he just seems a total nonentity .

Why was the Arse / City game postponed last night? Sky making sure it gets a bigger audience as its currently a top of the table clash?

Arsenal's cancelled Europa league game which is to be played tonight took president ,

    Europeans game always do

The Arsenal/PSV game that was postponed for Lizzy's 10 days of mourning was scheduled in for this week.

That helps City out big time that after losing to Pool on Sunday they don't have to play the league leaders and most in form team in the league right after that defeat.

The only PL team to get a midweek break while everyone else plays 3 games in a week. The teams playing in Europe have a busy few weeks coming up, and probably some more injury problems to contend with, as well as rotation to factor in.

He's been good, but shaw has alwasys at least spoken of wanting and welcoming competition. feel he suffers without it.

Also, Maguire didn't perform, got dropped, Martinez and Varane have done well and got their spots.

Shaw didn't perform, got dropped. Malacia did well and kept his spot until a few bad games. Shaw came in for him, performed and kept his spot.

Casemiro signed, McTominay does well vs Liverpool and keeps his spot.

    Ronaldo not performing - dropped.

EtH is showing, for the first team in years at United, that how you perform directly impacts your game time, and United are benifitting from it; and the players know the rules of the game (Just look at Bailly comments re. Maguire).

For waaaaaayyyyyy too long there has been no consequence for not performing at United. Now we just need to stop giving out new contracts just because they are running down and we might be on to something!

Gerrard & Rodgers both desperately need to win tonight or it's a race to which one of them gets sacked first.

Thought i think teams might now just wait till the World Cup break before sacking managers now.

Think Rodgers is praying to win that race to be honest though! Looks like a fella who 100% wants out, and has done since the season started.

Fair play to ten Haag. He's put his foot down, not bowed to ego or peer pressure and is doing things for the betterment of the team.

As said above, he is dropping players who deserve to be dropped and playing those in form. He hasn't wavered when there was criticism of Martinez and he certainly hasn't when it had come to Ronaldo.

Taking on Ronaldo is a job not many have done, and come out the other side of on top. We will have to see what the next PR stunt Ronaldo will pull in response to this, after his training ground story leaked to Duncan Castles.

Now if ten Haag could just go and lose a few matches, all will be better again! 😂

Would Rodgers cross the Glasgow divide and go back to Scotland and take over at Rangers it is a league knows.

He could be brave and head to Spain since he is fluent in Spanish he shouldn't have an issue settling in there.

No chance he goes to Rangers I'd say. Think he'd see that as beneath him now anyway, after utterly dominating it before. He'd get another good PL job easy enough I'd say, for a lot more money than Rangers could afford.

Spain's a great option too, if the right job came up, think he'd fancy the image of the one British man out managing in another top league. Seville would've been a great one if the timing had been slightly better, but they've just replaced Lopetegui with Sampaoli. Valencia probably the next most likely of the more attractive bigger jobs that might come up, depending on how things continue for Gattuso.

Rodgers is heading for journeyman manager now he won't get a big six or eight job again he blew it at Liverpool and has failed at Leicester

So it's takeover at another midtable tor top championship team and hope learnt to coach a defence which is something he hasn't been able to show in his years as a amanger.

He probably does need a fresh start in another league Spain or Italy could be the way to go since he does speak those languages.

I think it's too simplistic to say he's failed at Leicester... by that rationale almost every manager has failed at almost every job. He had 2 and a half exceptional years at Leicester, exceeding expectations. History would show managers tend to get their next jobs based on their best work at previous clubs rather than when things went wrong - as long as they show something for at least a year or two, they keep getting chances. It's only when a job goes wrong from the beginning that future teams start to steer clear. There's enough of a mitigating circumstance with a lot of things changing at Leicester too. (also don't think its fair to say he blew it at Liverpool... Not getting it over the line isn't failure, when getting that close wasn't at all expected in the first place.)

Think if Arsenal lost Arteta, or Spurs lost Conte, he'd be a name in the running. Same for newly-money'ed Newcastle, or historically big jobs like Villa and West Ham.

(also, isn't almost every manager a journeyman manager?)

Wolves have announced that Steve Davis will stay on as manager till the end of the season.

Mick Beale turned down the job to stay at QPR.

If City had signed Ronaldo two season ago instead of him returning to utd or if they had signed Kane last season I wonder would they have signed Haaland this last summer.

    Some sliding door moments there.

Gerrard might be done by the end of the night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,668 ✭✭✭✭JPA

No they said he will stay in charge until 2023.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,668 ✭✭✭✭JPA

Here's hoping, his management career is almost over never mind his time at Villa.

Whatever Amazon payed for these midweek games, it's too mick. They are a crap, as indeed many of these midweek games are.

Shocking ca there from Oliver to send Luiz off. Mitrovoc bumps him chest to chest and when they came together for the second time, Mitrovoc hits the deck like he's been shot.

Either send the 2 of them off or send neither one off, Mitrovic is a disgrace.

It's not looking good for Gerrard...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,440 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Jesus Fulham brought that ball up and down the pitch and Villa didn't get near the ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,668 ✭✭✭✭JPA

Please let that be the end of Gerrard, I'm sure he'll get a job as an ambassador for Liverpool.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,882 ✭✭✭✭CSF

First time I've ever felt confident that he is gone. He won't be there Sunday, and honestly the sense of relief that will feel like is something else.

Is the Viia squad up to much? Was Coutinho playing tonight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,281 ✭✭✭pavb2

The view is that though the squad should be doing better the poor performances lie mainly with SG’s tactics and lack of a system. For example Buendia’s been our best player by a mile since last season but can’t get a start. Coutinho’s on the bench because he simply isn’t good enough but it’s took Gerrard nearly 20 games to realise it.

i doubt if Gerrard will last the night let alone get to the weekend there’s no way back for him.

What's the story with Iheanacho at Leicester? Whenever he's gotten game time in the past 2 seasons, he's been scoring goals (single handedly rescued their 20/21 season with an incredible run of goals!).

They've not been banging them in this season, but he's still getting almost no game time. He's started only one game, and he scored in it. They've had 6 matches since that goalscoring start, and he's only played 37 minutes in them in total.
