don't know any beer below 4% here , maybe carling is 4% , prazsky is low enough as well, 4.2%, which I like and used to be able to buy 4 for €5. Now it's 4 for €6 , but the smaller 440ml cans. I doubt it has make an iota of difference. I just buy more of the smaller cans ?!?!?

There could be a market for mid strength beers here. like australia. ones about 2 or 2.5 % Where you can actually have a few drinks in the pub again and drive home.

Imagine Joe's reaction if he'd gotten a gig in the BBC or LBC? Considering how he reacted back in the day when Des Cahill was being touted as a possible liveline host, it wouldn't be pretty!

It won't stop him angling for a BBC job every once in a while.

"Da wurld service does be a wunderful service"

I wonder will the topic today be O'Connell Street is a kip? Salt of de earths on to defend it

The O'Connell street story seems like a classic Liveline topic. He'll be doing well to get many to defend it thogh - it really is a dump.

The team are probably lining up Mannix Flyinn, Harry Crosbie and Dermot Lacey as we speak

I don’t think you can be an ex alcoholic. Once an alcoholic always an alcoholic. Well that’s my take .

If RTE showed the full unedited recordings of the undercover sting it would have higher viewing figures than an episode of Love/Hate.

it's ok , I see Helen McEntee said a new garda operation is going to be 'relaunched' in the next fortnight. When is she going off for next maternity break ? better off with anyone else. not much wrong with what the TD from wexford said about o'connell street

It is. I don’t buy what was said yesterday that if you’ve one or two you’ll just start ordering the alcoholic version. Maybe so but it’s one or two less alcoholic drinks on a night out and great for people who want to head out during the week but don’t want the head the following morning. I think the headline here is that non alcoholic beer is available and you can actually drink it as a viable alternative.

Said it before, will say it again........ice cold Erdinger alco-free is lovely.

    Bottle, not can.

Of course, it always sends me off on a massive bender of double Jamesons thereby somewhat negating the alco-free opening phase. Still, a pleasant drink.

Yeah, an alcoholic (as in someone whose body & mind becomes totally dependent on alcohol) can never take it without resumption on an inevitable fatal path if that isn’t interrupted in time by going back into recovery. The body has become irreversibly programmed to react with alcohol intake in such a way that it is inevitably destructive. So to basically survive and have future quality of life the alcoholic has to take whatever measure it might take to achieve & maintain complete abstinence. For an alcoholic it’s a massive investment.

If one has a genetic predisposition and lives in a culture where drinking generously is the social norm, or/and other issues like anxiety/depression, or has been habituated to alcohol when the brain is still developing, to become an alcoholic Is only too easy and not a conscious choice or sign of weakness.

Ferocious thunderstorm here in Doobalin, maybe it will interrupt Joe’s broadcast, or detain him in de stewdio after 3pm.

  • Posts: 24,207 ✭✭✭✭ Riley Helpless Grapevine

There’s always thunder and lightning in de stewdio.

Flooding in Cork on Sunday warranted not a mention on Liveline. A biteen of rain in Dublin last night and lightning in RTE and it makes the top story.

Maybe we could harness this lightning.

Serious lightening here in the west all weekend but sure it’s not Dublin so doesn’t count.
