    In reality discharging a RWD Sept model 3 at 0% is nowhere near 0% so you can relax. The fact that the car has full power at 0% is an indicator of this. And Tesla confirmed to me my car had an 8kWh buffer. Thanks for your lol concern though.

    So just a quick update for those interested in the buffer issue.

    Tonight i ran a test - had to bomb up the M1 this evening to the beautiful town of Drogheda so it was perfect.

    At 80% i had used 11 kWh and it was probably in the region of about 11.3kWh as it had changed to 11kWh a couple of mins previously. This would indicate a usable in the range of 55 to 56kWh.

    I tried to take a photo but it was a bit blurred.

    I had to stop in Drogheda for an hour or so, therefore i obviously had to use Sentry Mode.

    At the end of my journey i had 67% remaining and used about 18.3kWh. So extrapolated again around the 55kWh usable mark.

    All in all i have never been able to extrapolate beyond 52kWh so the buffer seems to have been reduced for now at least. I can't see why the next software upgrade would reverse that but i'll keep an eye on it.

    I'm not recommending this to anyone but obviously everyone is free to do what they want. I have seen on another forum someone left their car at 6% overnight and it woke up with 12%, so who knows.

    That looks very promising and thanks again for your efforts on this.

    If Tesla from the start would have just said run it down to zero and give it some time to calibrate then that would have been fine but this denial and cloak and dagger stuff is just frustrating for the very people who are supporting them by buying their product!

    Hi All,

    just wondering what is happening with the car, (it is a 221 RWD M3 I took delivery in April) and buffer issue, do I need to do anything.

    I charged last night from 22% to 100%, Tesla app states I charged 42Kw and the charger app said 50kw, when I went to unlock the port it said 46kw charged. I presume what I am seeing here is a 8Kw buffer.

    My range from the last charge was 250Km for 78% with sentry off, this seems very low. On a full charge it would be 300Km.

    Monday to Wednesday car was driven to work and back leave for 6:15am, home at 19:30 parked up for the night, Thursday/Friday car used to do 2/3 small trips.

    The range on the car today at 100% is 430Km that is a big difference. Any info or advice is much appreciated.

    No, because if they drop it below the €60k then it gets grant which means it’s automatically €55k and it will kill RWD sales.

    Maybe in 2 years when the SEAI Grant is gone.

    439km is the magical range figure for the RWD LFP. That’s what yours and every other LFP RWD car will display (give or take a few km below) never more.

    Yes I agree, it is my range of 300km for a 100% charge is what I am worried about, Is 300km for a full charge about right? Thanks

    Based on driving style, yes.

    If you want to hit the WLPT you need ideal driving conditions, weather, roads etc

    14.5 kwh per 100km and a 60 kwh LFP Battery with supposedly 57.5 kwh available means 57.5/14.5 means you should be getting near 400km from a full charge.

    But the Tesla screen doesn't count battery usage when not moving, so pre-conditioning, climate etc may play a part here.

    Anyone else having issues viewing Sentry events on the UI? It was working fine but lately I'm getting the event notification but no recorded video in the Sentry list. I tried re-formatting the USB drive and plugging it out/in, but still no videos appear. Anyone else experiencing the same? (with Sept RWD)

    For the craic, I put in a trade in request for my Sep M3.

    The figure I got today was 40.8k.

    Big hit after a month, suffice to say , I wont be going with it or changing.

    That's surprising, Most cars are losing very little value. I recently sold an Audi for more than we paid for it.

    Strange considering how new it is but the used car market is changing again as we speak.

    I traded my last 2 teslas for substantially more than purchase price last year and this year but I’ve been buying and selling for 20 years so I’ve never sold a car without making profit. But I can see that shifting now.

    Demand is dropping off.

    If you bought a brand new car 5 years ago, drive it home and back to the dealer the next day your trade in prices would be normal.

    Not surprised. They have way too many in inventory. They gave too high trade in values in September gone. The trade in prices they were giving were plain silly. Best of luck to anyone who did well though.

    Look at the prices tesla are looking for their used model 3's. They are all about 10k too much.

    I wouldn’t say they have too many in stock. How many BMW’s would Duffy have in stock compared? Or Audi North Dublin? Etc….

    The problem is their sales process. They need proper sales people in the showroom with the second hand cars on display so people can go view them. It’s grand for myself and others that know what we are buying, but to get the average Joe into one, they want to go sit in them. For example, my dad. He was nearly buying a MY RWD but asked to arrange a viewing first.

    That’s what they need to cater for and k think the Sandyford centre is too small for that strategy.

    I'd agree on that. I've been keeping an eye on their used stock, mainly because of the extra warranty condition attached to direct second-hand sales. However, the cheapest are 47k 2019s, which is what they cost new back in the day. The only space for any type of moderate value are the pre-refresh LR models, which depreciate further to around the 51-54k asking price on both Tesla and independent dealers on DD etc. No value on the RWDs, but the closest they had was a 2021 refresh model in MSM with 19" sport wheels and 50k km on the clock for just over 50k EUR. That must have sold last Saturday. They also inflate the prices with enabling enhanced autopilot, which I'm not interested in.

    Their stock is only moderately more expensive than the independents, though, who also have absurd prices. You will note that there are a handful of dealers spamming the car sales websites with POA and non-existent stock, as well as reselling near new M3s. There should be an ownership limitation period of 6 months attached to the grant to stop instant reselling (looking at you, MY purchasers! :0).

    That additional year warranty and EAP is what makes buying it from tesla appealing.

    I picked up a M3P in March for €8k less than what they are selling the same car now (the have a red one in inventory) and bumper to bumper warranty until 2025 is very nice to have in the peace of mind department.

    EAP/NOAP I use now on every motorway trip and I used to be a sworn “I don’t need AP” person 😃. Nice to haves but I agree not 100% essential but they are the little things that step tesla above other cars IMHO.

    Agree. If they knew German m3s were coming they wouldn't have offered such high trade ins for for all the model 3s they toom as trade ins in September

    Accessories are very personal.

    Tesla Ring. Not a chance!

    Some people out all weather mats straight into the car. I didn’t.

    I dechromed the emblems. Others didn’t.

    I added tints. Others didn’t.

    I suppose I’m getting at what is the car missing that you need to add? Then work from there.

    Can I ask how you dechromed the badges and how much it cost? I'm assuming you went bonnet and boot badges to a matt black or something? I bought a kit to do it but tbh they looked like cheap plastic tat with glue on the back to my eye and kinda ruined the look of the car.

    On my Model S’s I removed and replaced with new Matt black badges from Ali Express.

    On the Model 3 I got the covers that stick on over the existing emblems. Again from Ali.
