Hot Water Cylinder

    Hi all,

    Looking to change my hot water cylinder for a bigger one. Its on a private well and the local supplier said it would have to be a Joule Wellmaster,I was quoted £2500 for the cylinder alone. I'm wondering would a regular SS tankwork just as well? My current one is a small copper 3 coil cylinder(one oil and 2 solid fuel boilers),I don't know the size but I guess around 120l. Have PV also so immersion is a must. I'm questioning the need for the very pricey WellMaster when my little copper cylinder has been working away without any problem for nearly 30 years!!! All advice very welcome.

    That seems crazy.

    I have a 3 bar pressure pump pressurizing my entire cold/hot system. I have a joule solar tank and have had no problems:

    If pressure is the issue, could the plumber not fit a pressure reducing valve before the tank to ensure it doesn't go above the desired pressure?

    It's nothing to do with pressure, just that the water comes from a private well. It seems that most tanks don't suit a well apparently due to the different minerals/ lime/ iron etc. Is your supply from a well also? Mine may be slightly high for lime but nothing that's ever caused a problem. Descale the kettle every few months that's about it!
