1,500 at the start and then I spend it so the figure drops. That's the max amount AIB allow from an in branch machine which seems to be the cheapest way to go, fee wise. I avoid using a card where possible.

    Literally zero, zip, nadda.

I pay absolutely everything by card or bank transfer or Revolut.

There might be some coppers in a jar somewhere but a robber would be very disappointed in this gaff.

Out of interest how do you manage all the coinage you get when making purchases. I've kind of gone pretty much card only to avoid shrapnel.

Down to less than €2 at this stage, made up of 10c and 20c coins. Google pay for everything.

Needing a safe for €1500 is hilarious. Do you really think a theif could find that amount of money in a house? So easy to hide and who is going to know to go look for it.

In saying that I did forget about €800 I had put away once but it was a pleasant surprise

I have about €3k in cash at hand and it has been useful.

About £6.50 STG and maybe 15 quid each max in USD, CAD, SFR and DKK left over from trips there.

In Euro, a couple of cent.

Last thing I needed to use cash for was to break notes for coins for the vending machine in work. It now takes card.

    Nice try would-be house burglar.

We all like to think we are anonymous here but if you read someone's few 1000 worth of posts you will be well on your way to finding out who they are. Couple with a few missing pieces from other social sites and a trip to a posters local pub or other low-energy detective work and you should be able to pinpoint someone's location. If I had 250k under a mattress from someone who spiked my drink and wanted to get away with it I would not be divulging it here cause you could be in for a nasty surprise.

Unfortunately even if there is no cash any thief might trash your house looking just in case there is :-(

Wake me up when it's all over.

I use cash mainly but I take out a set amount once a week from the ATM, the shrapnel as you call it builds up but I like that too lol. I put 2s in a jar for Christmas, 1s in a jar for holidays and the rest I just spend, anything that accumulates I put into the supermarket self service when doing a shop.

I usually have around 600 for Christmas which covers the full cost basically so feels painless, I lodge it in my bank account and take out the cash, I actually use a neighbouring town when passing through as you can pull up in front of their branch there so no lugging it around!

So the Christmas and Holiday stash of coins is in the house, easily found but sure it wouldn't break me if they want to haul that off!

I have just added up what we have, and it's just under 3k....didn't realize that at all!!! I'm going to bring to bank today. We are saving for a holiday and I find if I leave it in my bank it will be spent.

My grandmother is almost 90 years old. She's a hardy woman, but her Parkinson's has caught up with her. She's frail, but strong of mind. She lives alone. In the countryside.

She has next to no need for cash but keeps a decent sum in the top drawer of her bedside locker. This is to have ready to appease burglars in case they break into her tiny cottage. I think that is so sad but so wise of her. God bless her.

I’ve €9k in cash in the house. Every month for the last 2 years I take out cash from my wages and put it away in the house. I give my wife money to put into our joint account, put €200 in my wallet and then put the rest away. Anything else I just put on the card - Diesel, online shopping etc.

I have a direct debit every month that takes a set figure from my wages and I’ve no bank card for that account so I can’t spend it. Having the cash in the house means it’s literally emergency cash for whatever reason it’s needed - house/car repairs or whatever else could pop up. Everyone should have cash in the house.

You have to have between 3 & 4k walking around money at all times+ around 6 or 7k stashed somewhere.

About €10 in 1c and 2c coins (weighs about 3kgs) and about €25 in various other coinage which I use to feed the parking meters on the occasion that I have to leave the house. Oh and a bunch of NI fivers which I use to light the stove.

    Lol

I've got an oil tank sitting outside half full of liquid money.

in notes, because that level of coinage would have it's own gravity, clearly.

It must take a long time saving up all them 1 and 2 cent coins to be worth anything at all. Either that or you have a hell of a lot of 1 and 2 cent coins lol.

About a tenner in leftover sterling and a jar full of copper coins.

Ah, nearly forgot... I have 10 euro in my coat pocket from a client who "bought me a drink" for a small job.

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

The key to you having an unused condom probably lies in the fact that you only have 30c to your name!
