Agree it shouldn’t of happened and lads are right to be angry and want answers ….there has to be accountability and transparency in this from Glanbia

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,214 ✭✭✭straight

Accountability only applies to the little people unfortunately

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,700 ✭✭✭GrasstoMilk

You’d know how many litres was sold to date and total last year

if you had a loan with Glanbia, how much it was for

how much money was being paid back in merchant debt

I couldn’t give a hoot about every joe soap knowing total litres sold or what I got for last months milk but the loans /merchant debt is sensitive data

I wouldn't like anyone reading my milk statements

While ye are all shouting in anger at Glanbia it will probably be some poor sap who pressed the wrong button in the paper company that will end up out of work for Christmas

Unfourtnate but a major fook up and there has to be accountability

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,162 ✭✭✭roosterman71

Doubt it. It's a SW **** up of some sort where the names and addresses were right and the content is wrong, or vice versa. All those statements are orchestrated via and automated batch job of some description. Some poor sap probably initiates the process which kicks off all sorts of stuff in the background to pull all the data together, then it all gets sent to some printing/letter handling business to actually print, fold and put into an envelope and seal it up.

I bet any money that if you got to look into it, that there's a mismatch between the data and the address by a factor of 1. So person B got person As data, C got Bs, etc, etc. A 1 dropped in an array or a piece of code for incrementing a number is placed in the wrong place of some piece of code loop. I'd also bet there was a SW update which happened around the time of the Tírlan introduction.

Ah right ,what we really want to know is what compo are the affected farmers entitled to ,should 1000 euro each cover it for goodwill

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,162 ✭✭✭roosterman71

Your not entitled to anything and the company ain't going to voluntarily hand over cosh like that. I'd be shocked if they did anyway. One for the data commissioners to adjudicate on. GDPR and breaching those privacy guidelines can be a massive fine. Most times though it's swept under the carpet.

If there's a massive fine the farmer will end up paying for it in some way

What are people paying for dairy nuts atm?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,434 ✭✭✭cute geoge

well if there aint a goodwill gesture to the farmers involved ,these complaints should be referred to the e.u. courts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,862 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Not so much swept under the carpet, they have guidelines for deciding on a fine. Looking at those the duration is small, intention is not there, no previous thats known.

It might come down to how they interact and report it, which they seem to be on top of given their statements

    How are GDPR fines applied?

When deciding whether to impose a fine and the level, the Data Protection Commission (DPC) must consider:

    • The nature, gravity, and duration of the infringement.
    • The intentional or negligent character of the infringement.
    • Any action taken by the organisation to mitigate the damage suffered by individuals.
    • Degree of responsability of the controller or processor taking into technical and organisational measures that have been implemented by them.
    • Any previous infringements by the organisation or data processor.
    • The degree of cooperation with the supervisory authority to remedy the infringement.
    • The types of personal data involved.
    • The manner in which the infringement became known to the DPC, in particular whether and to what extent the organisation notified the infringement.
    • Compliance, or non-compliance, with any measures previously ordered by the DPC.
    • Adherence to approved codes of conduct or approved certification schemes.
    • Any other factors applicable, such as financial benefits gained or losses avoided, from the infringement.

On this, given the amount of data centres we have Ireland is essentially sets the European GDPR playbook, we are the market leaders in GDPR

Still on 14% here, have you silage or maize in as well? I think 450 must check the last load.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,975 ✭✭✭✭mahoney_j

Yes feeding arable silage pre pm milking ….protein actually 17%

Still paying well under 400 for a 15 0.97ufl expect an increase for the winter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,214 ✭✭✭straight

445 I think for a 16%. Cows are on 3kg and milking 1.8kgMS. Nearly going better now than they were all year. Probably making up for lost ground due to being held back to get into the middle band.

1.72kgs ms here on 6kgs meal. Back a good bit per cow on last year, didn't hit peak well and grass management not up to scratch in dry spell. Haven't scanned yet but not expecting great results, have seen a few bulling that were served in the first 3 weeks and no sign till now. Will be better setup for next year and have a share done but disappointed with this years performance.

Ground conditions starting to soften now after the rain as well so depending on how it comes in the next week or so may drive on to get thru the last round, still a share of heavier ground to manage

Should be good demand for the lisduff stock at the weekend again based on the demand there was for the heifers in Kanturk a couple of weeks ago. Buyers came down from Monaghan for some of them heifers.

Was talking to a local farmer last night, he got a glanbia statement from a couple in offaly . He was saying he'd want to be getting the envelope today to send it back otherwise it's going in the bin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,439 ✭✭✭jaymla627

I'd be burning it, they haven't a notion who got who's statements and if you send it back, your leaving yourself liable to any information be it false our true that could be circulated re local gossip our simply put a bad inclined f**ker stirring it

As the lad said to me last night what's to stop him taking a copy of it and posting back the original.

Oops.... Just noticed derogation farmers are not allowed buy any higher than 15% ration until Sept. 30th this year. I though it was 15th like last year. Bought 16% on Sept 25th. Am I in big trouble or what?
