I don't know where we're going, but we know where we are? (Part whatever)

It's absolutely miserable here, showered, jammies, heating on and working earnestly on the arse-shaped hollow of the cushion before I turn it over at the weekend.

Yep, this is it now for months. Just read on RTE online that we'll get the first €200 electricity credit next month so I've splashed out and turned on a light. 😁

    There is a light 🕯️🚨💡💡💡

I was thinking how handy the pumpkins with candles in them will be soon 😂

Incredibly dreary and dark evening - more like late November than early October.

Yoga class via Zoom finished, Dinner fixed and eaten, planning on shearing my OH’s head... 😁😬😁 (I’ve done it before) and building some LEGO whilst he watches TV.

Paging @gifted , help.😁

Sorry, but I didn't want to kill the suspense and spoil it for you girls 😉

Well, we all have our load to bear... 😇

Either way, if you insist 😉

Nope, that word is not even close to being real in German. It is hilarious though 😂

Anyway, first day back at work. Only 1247 unread emails I need to go to, as well as scores of software updates. Yay... 😑

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Grumpy in hospital with chest infection. Went to see him yesterday and for some unfathomable reason they put his sedation on hold to see how he'd be without it. They know how he'll be without it. They are the same medical team who was treating him last week. He gets delirium in hospital without sedation. So he now he has a delirium- aggressive, punching and kicking trying to climb out of the bed. So they had to give him a shot of heavy duty stuff to knock him out instead of giving him the small dose of his usual stuff in a timely manner to prevent it from happening in the first place. These people make me despair.

Jfc Sardi what on earth are these people thinking?.

Hospitals in Ireland are no place for the sick. The health services are an absolute disgrace.

People in Ireland would march for stuff that isn't anywhere near as important as our health services. It's about time people started mass protesting with regard to the absolute state of our health services. It's a shame and a stain on this country and loads of people are dying because of it.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It makes me sick to my stomach.

He's so lucky that you are there to be his advocate.

I know a horror story from years ago, a man I know had to go in every meal time to hospital to feed his very frail blind father because he couldn't feed himself and there wasn't enough staff to do it.

Disgusting treatment of our seniors who built this country.

It's sad to say that prisoners get treated better in prison than our elderly do in nursing homes and by extension geriatric care in hospitals.

That's not a reflection on the majority of carers, they just don't have the funding/resources.... despite the fact nursing homes are not cheap.

Sorry to hear you're back to this nonsense, Sardi.

The HSE - too many admin staff, not enough front line staff. Anyone remember the Prime Time episode years ago about consultants? They'd turn up to see public patients but their files wouldn't be updated so they couldn't see them. Staff in A & E regularly get verbally and physically assaulted, poor staff retention and difficulty recruiting new staff.

If I was a doctor, nurse or healthcare assistant I'd have emigrated years ago.

Thanks for the moral support, guys. Much appreciated. Happy to report he's much more settled today. Currently sleeping at the moment. Nurses report thst he's been calm and co-operative today, though still confused and very sleepy (no sh1t, Shetlock! After what they put into him yesterday of course he's sleepy). Nurses are great and are also baffled why the medical team held his sedation. They really didn't need to be dealing with that yesterday.

The Emergency Department was the worse I have ever witnessed in my life on Monday. Literally hundreds of people on trollies, chairs, sitting on the floor, even standing while on IV treatment! When I left through the waiting room, there were people sitting and lying on the floor. Some people who'd obviously been seen inside the department and were having treatment dressed in hospital gowns and their underwear on drips, in a window fronted waiting room at the front of the hospital . The noise inside was unbearable. Monitors, bleeps, emergency alarms, ambulance crew's walkie talkies, people crying, screaming, roaring. Gards and security running in and out and all the noise their communication equipment brings. I'd understand if a major incident had occurred but this was an ordinary Monday in early October. It was truly horrifying and distressing to witness. It's utterly disgusting that this is our emergency care system and its appalling to expect people to work in it.
