    Have you ever been to the area? (Leixlip, Clonsilla, Clonee) All the roads around there are twisty, narrow, usually with very poor sightlines, no pedestrian facilities, level crossings, severe gradients, one lane bridges everywhere etc. Oh and plans for much more development, along 16th century goat tracks that were not fit for purpose 100 years ago.

    I can only assume from your lame attempt at a platitude that you've never been to the area.

    Yaaaaaaawn.

    The new developments, new people and new travel demand will happen regardless of whether you build this.

    Emailed Fingal CC, good news:
    It is intended to tender this project in Q1 2021 and the construction phase is likely to last almost 2 years.

    Only to Barnhill.
    Barnhill to Leixlip... who knows....The part through St. Catherine's Park was cancelled a few years ago. Dunno how it's ever gonna happen.

    Does anyone know if the construction taking place in the large field beside beechfield and in the field opposite and onto the backroad close to the bakery is this new road discussed before?

    No I think that's the Irish water pipe line from the treatment plant in lexilip

    The field opposite, adjoining Holsteiner Park is currently having the pipeline laid through it as mentioned, but will be built up with housing when the pipeline is complete. The field adjacent to Beechfield will not.

    Got a response from Fingal CoCo. Construction is now due to start on this in Q1 2023.

    We don't build things quickly in this country, do we?

    Good to hear this is moving forward as the new bridge will in effect replace the Clonsilla Level Crossing which will be closed under the DART+ West project. It will provide a new bridge over the rail tracks at Barberstown, the Ongar to Barnhill bridge being under construction will hopefully negate some of the objections to closing the LC. See here;

    I'm not sure the Ongar-Barnhill scheme includes the Barberstown flyover yet. I know the latter is planned as part of the Barberstown LAP (Local Area Plan) which will see the urbanisation of the area, but the flyover could be a separate scheme.

    The new bridge over the rail tracks to replace the Barberstown LC is part of DART+ West, the drawing I like is part of the RO. There is another bridge running north/south which is part of the Ongar to Barnhill Distributor Road project.

    Tender out for Advance Works for the Ongar to Barnhill Distributor Road;

    Main tender would have to be out soon if construction is to start Q1 2023.

    Update from a local Dublin 15 councillor.

    | Works to commence on the "Ongar - Barnhill Road" |

    The Ongar Barnhill Road is an objective of the Fingal Development Plan and will provide for future housing within the Ongar Barnhill Local area plan and also for improved road/ footpath/cycleway network in that area. Part 8 planning approval for the scheme was granted in 2007.

    Fingal County Council has appointed a contractor to carry out an advance site clearance and fencing contract for the proposed Ongar Barnhill Road. This work will be carried out in February in advance of the bird nesting season. The works will be north of the Barberstown Lane South Road. Following on from this it is intended that a contractor will be appointed for construction of the road contract during Summer 2023.

    Still only on site clearance. Part 8 granted in 2007(!).
