Is it worth servicing a car that I'll be trading in soon anyway?

Hey all,

I've got a 181 Mazda 3 petrol saloon, 75k. I'm considering trading it again against a new car over the next 3/4 months at a main dealer, haven't decided against what yet - possibly the Corolla Cross or the new Honda Civic. I usually get it serviced yearly around November at a main dealer. There are currently no problems with the car. Is it worth getting it serviced again or should I save myself €300 as I'll be getting rid of it anyway?

I'd really like to hear any opinions on the Toyota Corolla Cross and the new Honda Civic hatchback too thanks! The reason I'm looking at these two is that I'm after Japanese full self charging hybrid models 😀

What was the mileage when it was last serviced? No point spending money on it if your trading it in soon

It was 59k at the last service.

And it was serviced less than 12 months ago? I wouldn’t bother servicing it again.

I wouldn't bother, the dealer will factor all that into the trade-in value whether it's actually serviced or not. You paying for a service now will only benefit the dealer and next owner.

You must consider that the car you are trading in for mightn't be available as soon as you expect though. There is a king waiting tube on many new cars currently.

No point getting it serviced OP but do consider giving the car a good detail before showing it to a dealer. Your car will be appealing as a trade in and even more so if well presented.
