Guys,

Following this thread which wouldn’t get the views or the insights that the EV forum has https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058261109/grants-for-electric-motorbikes#latest

Are there any SEAI Grants for motorbikes? I don’t think so but why not?

Other than the VRT exemption they share with the cars there’s nothing else.

Probably because there aren't anywhere near enough motorbikes on the road to make a difference if they were electrified. I say this as a bike.... There seem to be less and less of us on the roads every year.

Agree but I think there should still be some form of incentive to switch over.

The focus from the government seems to be on low powered pedelecs rather than full fledged motorbikes or mopeds, and pedal bikes can get the bike 2 work incentive

Absolutely.

There should definitely be an extra incentive. The VRT on a motorcycle is pretty minimal so whatever the Government is forgoing is small. Perhaps a percentage of the OMSP as a rebate could be a good idea. I think most of the "usable" electric motorcycles are over the €20k mark, so something like 10% or 15% would be reasonable. As someone else has said though, the focus seems to be on pedal electric bikes and the like for consumers as opposed to more powerful motorcycles.
