Dual meter v Smart meter

    I heat my house by geothermal and this is done through the night at half price electricity. Should I get a smart meter installed? I also have PV panels which generate electricity, and the excess is exported to the Grid.? Should I stay with my dual meter or go for a smart meter where I can get some money for the excess electricity. I am in a quandary about this. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Dermot

    Currently the day night rates are cheaper than the smart meter rates.

    Day/night are to get deemed export (estimated FIT)

    don't jump to smart meter until you do the math.

    Get your previous years use, and see where you stand.

    consensus here is to be wary of smart meter tariffs, not the technology itself. you'll get a significant 'deemed' CEG payment with a D\N meter as long as ESBN has your NC6 on file and have labelled your MPRN as eligible for CEG payments .
