My oil burner is outside at bottom of garden but I can smell oil in the house

What is causing it. No oil leaks at tank

So the burner is distant to the house, where's the oil tank in relation to the house? Are either of them uphill from the house?

Be odd to have a burner/boiler far from the house as the pipes would lose a lot of heat on their path to the rads.

Can you smell oil in the garden?

Have you had a delivery recently, have you checked that no one has stolen your oil, any smell of oil from drains or man hole covers?

Take the lid of the tank have a sniff and check its the same smell as you are smelling indoors.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Any chance you walked it in from a puddle of oil?

Do you have a bored well near the oil tank.

Can you ascertain that there is no oil leaking from the oil tank.
