Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Safari (Certain websites and pages not displaying)

I’ve been having a lot of trouble with Safari recently and websites/pages not displaying. I first noticed it on Volkswagen.ie. When I visited the website it displayed the home page for a split second then the browser goes blank (white). Recently I have been receiving the following pop-up message on Volkswagen.ie.

‘Your browser is not supported. For the best experience, please update or try a different browser (Browser Safari 13.1.2)'

I was on Stripe.com yesterday and while most of the website worked fine, some pages also loaded for a split second, then turned blank (white). I’ve experienced the same problem on other websites in the last two days where some pages open and others load and turn white. I don't believe that it is an issue with these websites. Something is up with my browser.

I’ve done some research online to no avail. Can anyone shed some light on this for me or offer a possible solution? Thanks in advance.

Safari 13.1.2 was released in July 2020, as the final security update to Safari 13 - so it's effectively not a supported version any more. Double check that you don't have any outstanding software updates to install. I assume you're on Mac OS High Sierra (13.1.2 was the last version of Safari that HS supported)? You would need to update the OS to High Sierra or Mojave to get a later version, if your hardware supports it,

If you don't have any available Safari or OS updates, then your hardware is likely too old to support them.

I wouldn't use an unsupported browser for web browsing - not only are you going to get compatibility issues like you're seeing, but it's a security risk. If you can't get an update to the latest version of Safari, I'd strongly recommend switching to Chrome or another browser that you can keep up to date.

Hi. Thanks for this information. I’ve checked the available updates and everything is up to date. My Mac is about 7 years old and its running macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6. Is chrome available on Mac computers?

Before you go installing something else, it might be worth:

1: Seeing if the page shows up properly in "Private" mode:

If it does, its likely an add on (for Safari) or some cached data that is causing the issue - prehaps clear the cache in Safari and/or remove any addons (I amn't that familiar with Safari but assume there may be addons in it.

Chrome is indeed available for Macs:

There's other browsers available too https://www.macworld.com/article/668670/best-web-browser-for-mac.html (not an exhaustive list, but they would be the top ones).

Get the most recent update you can can for Safari . As you're running High Sierra you should be able to get the latest version of Safari. I am currently running 15.6.1 with Monterey and no issues.

Check if you have any extensions installed, some of these can inhibit certain websites. Disable them and try again.

But you could always install chrome which work quite well on MAC OS.

Thanks everyone. I installed Chrome and that did the trick.
