He's also very handy in the wet, where drivers' skills often come to the fore.

Jack Daniels is to become an official sponsor of McClaren in 2023. Wondering if it will being any change in colour of the car.

I think putting him on par with Ocon is generous. During the Force India/Racing Point days, Ocon gave Perez a better fight (literally!) both seasons at an earlier stage of his career than Stroll did the following two seasons. Peak Stroll was in the pink Mercedes where he picked up a couple of podiums but was still inconsistent and only finished mid-table in the drivers standings.

kinda hard to proof yourself in a bad car... Going to Ferrairi was a mistake... they never could get it together and like now with Leclerc they put so much pressure on the drivers that they end up making mistakes

The Ferrari was the second best car on the grid for most of his time at the team. How do you figure it was a bad car? How does anyone prove themselves unless they're in the best car?

Plenty of drivers prove themselves in poor cars. First task is to beat your teammate. He beat an aging Kimi who had long since checked out and failed to beat a rookie Leclerc. Don't you think Leclerc proved himself in the same 'bad car'? I certainly think he did.

I think it's hard to prove yourself when you're not driving well. And Vettel hasn't been driving well for a long time now.

But this is just a ruse to prop up Stroll and then Stroll is used by others to prop up Vettel. Truth is, they're both poor drivers now. One used to be excellent for a while, but theire both poor now. Vettel has checked out in the last few races.

He's ahead of the rookie Alfa and Alpha and Hass drivers.

The AM had gone backwards over the season as they have done for the last few years. The Pink Mercedes was the second best car at the start of 2020 but ended up midfield by the end of the season as the other cars out performed them. He's finished in the points 3 times in the last 8 races. Almost half his points cone from a 6th place finish in Azerbaijan. The car wasn't the worst on the grid for the whole season.

Vettel might be worth a place at one of the backmarker teams like AM or Williams(not based on his last few races since announcing retirement mind) and Stroll wouldn't get a seat if not for his money.

Kinda. Using the three full stops is confusing. Did you mean to say it's difficult to prove himself in the Aston Martin?

George Russell proved himself in a bad car. He was consistently good and maintained a consistent gap to his teammates (both Latifi and Kubica). Vettel is beating Stroll in the points mainly due to a 6th place in Baku. But his gap to stroll is all over the place. Sometimes he's out qualified by stroll, sometimes he is on the same pace and sometimes he out qualifies stroll. His racecraft is better than Stroll's, that's for certain.

But this is Lance Stroll were talking about. Best thing i could say about him is he's the best Canadian on the grid (but he's also the second worst driver on the grid).

These conversations look very different in hindsight. I think alonso will go to AM and consistently beat Stroll the way he should be beaten by a good driver. Vettel is just past it. It doesn't take from his past achievements. But things change. He won things because he was a top driver and got a top car because of it. Now he's not a good driver and took a drive at a poor team because it was his best option.

Yeah I've seen a few. They're mostly based on DR saying he's weighing all options and wants to stay involved in the sport. The main point is he said he isn't too proud to be a reserve driver.

There's nothing more concrete than that. So it's possible but we've no evidence apart from that.

It seems to have been a complete mess. The system not being able to handle the enormous amount of requests have turned it into a lottery. People will end up paying hundreds more than the people sitting beside them even when both were essentially looking to buy at the same time.

Now they’ve had to shut it down for the because the system couldn’t cope, so thousands have wasted their day.

Dynamic pricing is a terrible system for a yearly event with massive interest. It’s generally used to encourage people to book early, which is fine for things like cruises or flights of which there are many, but here it just looks like a cynical cash grab.
